It sounds funny to say given his size, but I think Haas gets overshadowed on this team.

Lots of talk about "this is Vince's team", "Nojel is amazing", "freshmen are athletic", "Carsen is an assassin".

All good topics... but there doesn't seem to be much talk at all about Haas

- He is already in the 1,000 point club. He will likely finish his career in the top 20 scorers in Purdue history.
- He will also likely get into the top 20 all time for rebounds.
- He's on pace to be 8th or 9th at the end of this year in career blocks.
- He's currently 6th on the all time FG% list.

He has the ability to dominate a game moreso than any other player on the roster. He may not end up with the best season averages, but I think he'll have more games where we say "Wow, we definitely won that game because of him... he was unstoppable". That's been the case so far in his career at least.

Offensively , he poses a lot of problems for the D. When he is playing, Purdue needs to use him meaning being aware of the low post. It does no good for him to run between FT lines with quick threes. Shooting a three in transition "sometimes" is okay when he is in there, but you have a limited amount of minutes of using him and when he gets the ball down low...he typically draws a foul or scores. IT always helps past the stats for him to put fouls on the inside guys of the other team. Many times late in the game that position pays huge dividends. I'm guessing Purdue can play without him as well. Haas is at the mercy of the players on the court with him. He can disappear or be a focal point all a function of the perimeter players at the time. I can't wait to see some of these guys next Saturday...

Haas is pretty limited offensively. Unless he gets the ball low on the block, he's not going to do much on O. He's definitely a tough cover for a lot of teams and can draw fouls but He doesn't have a mid-range jumper and doesn't force the D away from the basket at all to open up driving lanes.
I like Haas, but I don't think he's dominant

So you're saying he's kinda like Shaquille O'Neal?

If there is one word to describe haas, it would be dominance. that is his game. Of course he doesnt create his own shots, hes a 7 ft2 center! Have you looked at his stats per 40 minutes? Theyre ridiculous and thats with swanigan canibalizing the stats. The only reason he isnt even more dominating is becausr college ball calls a lot of ticky tack fouls on the center position, and he has had pro caliber pkayerd who he has to share minutes with. Bonefish...lol...Haas not not dominant. Come on!

I think that's a good problem to have. Although college and early NBA career Shaq was crazy athletic and could run up and down the floor. End of career Shaq is more so what Purdue gets with Haas. If Haas can improve his passing out of the post and making that decision faster...that will go a long way in improving Purdue's offensive ability this season.

dude, if Haas were dominant, he wouldn't be back for his Sr season, he'd be in the NBA. In addition, he's be on preseason Big10 teams, which he's not.
I didn't say he needed to create his own shot, but it he gets the ball anywhere outside of 5 feet from the bucket, he's not shooting. And the 40 mins stats? That's crap. They don't give out awards half way through the game.
Haas is a good player and will get a shot in the NBA, but he's not dominant, unless your definition of dominate is vastly different than mine.
Watch some videos of Glenn Robinson, he 'Dominated", as in, one of the best college players ever dominating.

Preseason B10 teams also do not matter.

Haas is not consistently dominant, but I don't know how you can watch some of the games he's had over the years and not use that word. Once again, he is more likely to dominate games than any other single player on this team.

When all is said and done. IH might be one of the most important recruits CMP has ever landed. Not just bc of the stats you have posted. But it seemed he was the reason that AJ really started to turn the corner and turn his whole career around at Purdue. Which in part was a huge reason we were able to get back to where we are now.

I have been pushing for Isaac to play 30 minutes. The big key is we need to cheer Isaac on to be more aggressive. From what I could see he was much more aggressive in the WUG games and we can easily expect double figure in rebounds and over 2 blocks a game. Last year, Isaac sealed off a side of the backboard and let Biggie and others grab the board. This year, Isaac should go after every board. We need him to average over 3 fouls a game and not take him out when that happens. The refs may call him on ticky tack fouls, but the important stat is how he puts the op big men in foul trouble.

One reason Isaac can play 30 minutes is that he can control the D board outlet it out and we we will have 2-3 guys who can drive the length of the floor for a lay up or 2-3 guys spot up for a 3 pointer. Isaac can take his time down the floor and still can lumber down the middle and when the ball is kicked out for the 3 can get a late pass for an easy layup. Or if we put up the ball quickly Isaac can stop at the top of the key. If the op gets a quick rebound, Isaac can sprint back and you will be surprised how many 2 on 1 fast breaks he will stop.

If we don't have the layup, the quick 3 and they match up the delayed layup, then we set up the play to feed to Isaac down low. I am impressed how Isaac is much better with his left. I think Isaac can be more aggressive on the mid range jump shot. Unlike Shack, Haas can nail that shot, as he has proven at the foul line.
