Great Hire in Brohm - What about coordinators?

I say leave WKU DC behind. Their Defense was about as bad as ours. I'm 110% on board with his offensive coaching staff.

DC = Rod Woodson - He said he wants to coach. I know it isn't HC, but worth courting him.
O-Line Coach = Matt Light - Didn't Light say he wanted to help coach early in DH days? Hazel was
too dumb to accept the help.

Others??

I'll let Coach Brohm figure that out.

I know he's bringing his brother Brian as QB/Co-OC, and from what I've read his DC is one of his best friends. Former DC at both Washington and USC, and former HC at Idaho (he was named interim at WKU right now)

Nicholas "Nick" Holt V[1] (born October 15, 1962) is a college football coach, currently the defensive coordinator for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.[2] Prior to taking the position in 2013, he was the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach of the Washington Huskies for three seasons.[3] Previously, Holt was the defensive coordinator and defensive line coach of the USC Trojans, and the head coach of the Idaho Vandals from 200405.

Look past the points scored (part of that is a function of the points scored by WKU themselves that creates a higher pace and sense of urgency for opposition) and their defense was 29th in the country in yards given up per play.

Their DC is coaching their bowl game. I have no idea on what the plans are as far as him coming to Purdue or not but I think many here are dismissing him without considering the circumstances he operates under there.

so their secondary coach was on medical leave and his duties had to be split, so that didn't help.

Having his brother and his DC come in is huge for the transition. I would be all for Brohm retaining DL coach Melvin as he did a great job when the DL was healthy. The games where they were all healthy, the line played very well. I wouldn't be opposed to retaining Parker if Brohm deems it appropriate as he appears to be a player favorite and worked tirelessly to keep recruiting throughout the process.

If you are willing to pay the guy $20 million over 6 years, let him make the decisions and hold him accountable.

No. We need our ADs at Purdue to meddle with our assistant coach hires, and push their own agenda, preferably putting together their own fantasy coaching staff.

WKU ranked 39th for the season in defensive yards per play (5.12). Not nearly as impressive as Bamas 3.8 but still not too shabby.

WKU did hold Alabama to 38 points...same team that just put up 54 on Florida...and defense was Floridas strength

Laugh if you want, but I'd want Charlie Strong as DC. The man is a defensive genius, has a national championship ring as DC at Florida, is very well connected with recruiting in Florida and Texas, and his style of defense would fit right in the B1G. He used to work with Meyer at Florida, so he'd have good insight on game prep for OSU.

He's a lot like Brohm. He's intense, his players love him. I honestly think his defense with Brohms offense could be a wicked combination.

Go big or go home. If you truly want to go big, you make a run at Strong.

If not Strong, Todd Orlando from Houston.

And can he stop wearing hats the way a normal person does?

And how quickly can he grow a mustache?
Is he man enough to confront opposing coaches at midfield? Is he man enough to challenge radio show callers to come down to his office and settle a dispute face to face?

And- How big is his binder?

Who gives a crap about the AD? Only the board experts should have input in this decision.
