People are jumping off the sinking ship left and right. Better dig in fellow Boilers because it's going to be a long while before things get better, may God have Mercy on our souls.... However, as always Boiler Up, Hail Purdue.

We need to just need to burn everything and start from scratch it would be better.

We're already losing by 30 to multiple mediocre teams, how much worse can it get?

how can it get much worse? we cant win conference games and barely win non conference games. having an A.D. that is unwilling to fire our terrible coach doesn't help.

How much worse can our recruiting class get? The worst thing Hazell can do is to offer a bunch of 2 star projects now, that we will be stuck with after he's gone.

What do you mean how could it get worse? Loosing what good recruits we have, coaches jumping ship this late, looking at another 1-2 year. A lame duck coach who is going to leave the cupboard more bare then it's ever been for whoever is dumb enough to take the job...that's how it gets worse before it gets better.

I will be so glad when someone gets the football program back on the right track and starts winning again. I wish I knew when that will be. What a disaster the last 3 years with the 4th coming it looks like.

I'm a Boilermaker through and through, but it's time for me to admit it...

When it comes to football I've become more of a gawker than a fan. I mostly tune in to see just how catastrophic this train wreck is going to get.

I'm not really expecting any improvement as long as Haze is around. For one thing, I don't think he's capable of righting this ship. Beyond that, his and the program's standing are so low, and his future is so precarious, that no player or coach who can really make a difference will come here.

I suspect that those recruits/players who have greener options will continue to exercise them. And it's hard for me to criticize them for that.

The way I see it, there is only one answer....cheat, and cheat big. If it works, we'll see a quick turnaround. If we get busted, there's little they can do to us that would put us in worse shape than we are now.
Cheating pays. Look around the NCAA. Every single program that has been set back by a scandal is still in a better position to win AFTER sanctions than ours is without.

part of me would rather go to Ball State than Purdue. At least you would win some games and have an outside shot of going to a bowl game. No chance at Purdue and you know the coach isn't going to be around much longer.
And as a bonus your body doesn't have to collide on a weekly basis with the Iowa, MSU, OSU, UM, UW of the world. Might save you some brain damage!

We don`t lower our standards to cheating. We are Purdue not IU remember that before making a dumb post.
What is dumb about my post? Can you refute my statement that cheating pays or just lob insults? Btw my post was neutral in terms of my personal preferences. Just a statement that under typical NCAA rules and enforcement, those that cheat are not punished so severely to prevent them from coming out ahead of those that may be cleaner.

I agree with you. I used to plan my fall Saturdays around watching the game and enjoy other Big Ten games as it would matter for bowl projections. Now, I will turn it on if I'm not busy but wont be yelling at the TV. There aren't ever big games to make the flight back for, let alone even go out to the bar and watch.

We don't have any good recruits left, all our coaches will be gone in a year, we are averaging 2 wins a year under Hazell, and the stands are almost empty already. It can't get much worse.

If SMU had quit cheating after they got caught the first time, they would still be a powerhouse.

Glad you brought up SMU, literally THE last D1 football program to get the death penalty... nearly 30 years ago. Meanwhile, fast forward to present day.. the SMU bball team (squeaky clean, right??) brings themselves out of nowhere into prominence, gets put on probation, and suffers so badly that they are currently... let's see.. oh yeah, 18-0.

You are describing me to a tee....I'm more interested in how this is all going down now rather than hoping for some type of "success". But don't forget that our fearless leader, Mitch Daniels, is leading the charge to convince the football powers in the Big10 to adopt "his model" of unilateral disarmament to have all Big10 schools divert athletic revenues to academics. Good luck with that Mitch. Even if one believes that's a worthy cause (which I do), I've come to believe that Daniels is willing to completely sacrifice the football program for his "cause" (or perhaps ego).

It's one thing to be principled, but it borders on dereliction of duty in my eyes. It seems like he sees everything as a cost, and nothing as in investment. It's insane to lose $3 million (or whatever) in lost attendance to save $2 million on a buy-out, all for the sake of trying to convince others that you are the smartest or most principled person in the room. Sanctimony at it's worst.

Wish I could like this post twice..
Even as a Purdue alum and semi-obsessed fan I would go one step farther and say I would be willing to sacrifice football wins at the alter of sweeping changes for the better... if there was even a chance in a thousand of it happening! No way, no how does Daniels have any influence over the big boys of the conference in this matter. Just picture what the administration at a school like OSU would do if they didn't make the playoff even 1 year and were diverting a bunch of football revenue to academics. Guess what?? That money is going back to the football program or someone's head is on a platter!

Yes. They have a 1 year post season ban and may lose a few schollies. Meanwhile they also have all the media coverage and street cred with recruits that comes with being a highly ranked 18-0 team. I guess we won't know for sure for another few years whether this modern worst-case scenario punishment for cheating was a net gain or loss..

All Hazell and Compny could do to make it worse would be to lose all the games in 2016 and then he would be fired the Saturday Night of the Indiana game. If Burke AND Daniels let this joke of a program continue with another subpar season in 2016 it will just prove what many of us thought 1) Daniels was appointed President by a bunch of cronies he named to the BOT and 2) Burke stayed on as AD about 8 years past when he should have been let go!

And I concur that if there was any legit chance of Mitch Daniels being successful in his quest, say 50/50, then I'm OK with football being a short-term sacrificial lamb. Such a conference-wide policy would be great in terms of course-correcting on sports being too important PLUS it would have the long-term affect of creating a level playing field for Purdue. But I don't see any sign of that being remotely possible, in spite of pontificating from all of the usual suspects. Wishful thinking bordering on delusional.

Any punishment the NCAA can dole out pales in comparison to the punishment that Burke and Hazell have inflicted on us.

The NCAA death penalty should be you get saddled with Morgue and Haze for 5 years.

That proposal is insanely idiotic. If the B1G does it and no one else does, it will quickly sink to the bottom of the P5 conferences.

Then, since the teams aren't as competitive, fan interest will decrease, TV ratings and ticket sales will go down (not possible in our case), which will cause the revenues to tank. Then it turns into a downward spiral of deficits and budget cutting, all the while the SEC, big 12, and ACC steamroll the B1G on the field as well as in recruiting.

I think the worst of worst is losing to a IAA/FCS team, which could happen. Can't remember a sports season I was less excited about. Maybe late 90s Bulls post Jordan.
