GOING TO BE A DIFFICULT SEASON

For the long suffering Purdue fans who had hopes of a good season, it looks like you'll be disappointed again! Rebuilding a program that was totally destroyed by Hazell will take time. Last year there was a glimmer of hope, but this year is beginning to look like a winless season!

You may be right, but Purdue football has taken so many steps backwards they may believe they are actually going forward!

Too much loss last year, too many gaps left in the roster by the previous regime. Asking Hazell recruits (we know about them) or young Brohm recruits to fill those gaps.

We got spoiled last year.

Having been a season ticket holder from 1967 to 1987 before moving out of the 'region,' I've seen a lot of good and bad football and yes, there have been many more backward steps than forward. For some reason, I am really excited about the administrative committment shown to the football program and the Jeff Brohm hire. Be patient Boilermaker Faithful, I think we are following Wisconsin's football blueprint when they hired Barry Alvarez.

Have we played bad and made dumb decisions? Absolutely. It is the reason we are 0-2, but we could be 2-0 too. Some of these posters who are saying this is Hazell part 2 is just ridiculous. We did get spoiled last year.

We have a lot of young players, and we are still missing some players. Next year's class will help to fill some of those gaps. Lets be honest Karlaftis could start right now. We have no pass rush at all. We need more Moore type of players. Mr. Bell and Mr. Robinson I hope you are listening.

We have to give Brohm time. One thing we do need to do this year is go with one QB. Pick one and stay with him. Maybe we give Plummer some experience for the future.

We will take some lumps this year, but we are going to be ok.

Agree that they need to stick with a QB. Sindelar played much better when he knew nobody was waiting for him to screw up. It needs to be Sindelar unless he is hurt for every game.

You all did well today, Eastern is gonna tear it up for sure. Staying within one should b a positive not a negative.

I think it's just gonna be a hold the fort until reinforcements arrive kind of season. Need to get the committs signed then build on it next year. Better D talent coming than we currently have.

Coach drives a 2004 Honda. Things will be ok.

Should have won both games, coaches and players know it. Gotta go full bore every play, not 90 % of them, and replace the weak links if possible. Only takes a couple players to drag a team down. Coaches will probably stick their foot up a few asses this week.

People have to remember most of this roster is MAC level talent left over from hazell era.

But I still think brohm gets this thing turned around. People were just as depressed after the Rutgers game last year.

Regardless of whose recruits were playing, Purdue should not be losing to an Eastern MI team, ever.
Unfortunately, this team is showing the 3 traits of a poorly coached team: turnovers, penalties and a lack of discipline.
That’s always on the coaches.

Going to agree could have won both games. The most disappointing thing to me was the Neal penalty last week and now Jones does basically the same after a sack this week. What compounded the issue in my book was that Jones was still playing after that bonehead stupid penalty he was just assessed. Accountability on this year's team really needs to be addressed.

Good point. B1G talent wise Purdue has below average offensive and defensive lines and secondary. Average at best overall QB, LB, WR, and RB talent.

That being said, if you execute and play smart like they did most of last year this a team that is 2-0 and looking to be bowl eligible. Should never lose a game like yesterday. If some starters need to be be benched for penalties that impact outcome of games, sit them and let them think about it.

The mental errors have to be on the coaches and they should hopefully get that cleaned up and this team will improve. The bad news is even if they improve, this 0-2 start, especially the EMU loss, will really hurt chance of finishing .500 or better.

Loosiers certainly know what losing football looks like, considering your pathetic FB history. Virginia is one of the worst offensive teams I've seen this year and you barely won at home. You guys play a pud non-conference schedule every season, it seems. Once IU gets into the BIG schedule, reality will quickly set in, as it always does. Ramsey will get hurt again and IU is toast, not that Ramsey is that good anyway.

If Smiley is playing yesterday, Purdue wins imo. Wouldn’t have needed to shuffle guys around as much but the bigger issue is the non-existent pass rush. When you blitz LB’s to get a pass rush, you leave CB’s on an island. EMU’a qb’s were able to find the one on one coverage and the CB’s were frequently out of position.

If there was a solid pass rush, the defense could easily play more cover 2 which allows the cb’s to be more aggressive knowing there is help over the top. Either that or guys were out of position and coverages were blown frequently (thinking of the 76 yard TD pass where Cason was beaten badly and had zero help over the top).

Bitter little brother...go Eastern!

Reality sets in for IU next week. You're not playing Ball State. It's MSU. I see IU winning 1 game in league play, and it's not against Purdue.

IU usually starts our 2-1 or 3-0 because they play a really weak non-con schedule. Then reality sets in with BIG play. Good luck with your HS coach.

That's there plan. Play cupcakes win 3 and then try to win 3 more in conference play to go to average bowl game.

You have got to be shitting me!! You wankers are 0-3 and talking smack about our 3-0 club??

IU will beat the brakes off your ass in Bloomington come November...no questions asked. Your defense is ATROCIOUSLY BAD!!

Hasn’t Purdue just lost three home games to unranked opponents? Has Northwestern won since? How did Eastern Michigan do against Buffalo tonight?

You guys have played NO ONE so far. Virginia sucks. Their offense looks like a mediocre HS team's. IU fans always crow about how this year will be "the breakout year". No it won't. Reality will set in quickly in the next few weeks. And we will not lose to your team in front of your 33K fans, if that many actually come by the end of the season.

BTW, isn't your reversible ND/IU jacket looking a little tatty, lately?

0-3. Three home losses to unranked teams. Ouch.

IU would be 3-0 if they played your schedule..particularly if the games were all at home!!

We beat FIU at FIU and they would be at least 2-1 right now against your schedule.

Lol. A program that goes 25 years without a bowl win needs to check themselves before talking smack to their rivals.

Sucks that you guys will still have a worse recruiting class than us.
