Get ready for 8 schollys

I'd be stunned if he weren't back at Purdue next year but I've seen kids leave early before when I thought they were making a mistake.

I know nothing other than what is public knowledge. Given that, I would be surprised if Swanigan left Purdue this year but I am surprised by what other people do all the time.

sounds like you are looking for something to complain about before anything has happened. Why would anyone complain about Swanigan being developed too fast? Your underwear too tight this morning or something? Maybe since you think so many on here aren't too bright, maybe you should go elsewhere

Swing and a miss. What I said is exactly what the forum experts will do. How about this, since you don't like me slamming truth all over maybe you should go elsewhere and stop embarrassing yourself? I mean you clearly have nothing of substance to add here. I hear IU likes fans like you so it sounds like that is a perfect fit. I mean think about it, low IQ fans, lots of inbreeding, a clown coach I mean it defines you perfectly!

I gotta say you are definitely a person who has no clue what you are saying, this will be the last time i look at anything you have to say , hopefully you get better
*yawn*. My hyperbolic statement is right in line with how the experts on here will respond. But your response is exactly what I expected form someone so clueless and naive. Oh and don't think you are fooling anyone. You will read this response. I know it, you know it hell everyone here knows it. Hopefully one day you get a clue.

Come on guys. Baking-a-pie was just being humorous in his initial remark. No need to start a fight over that sort of thing. I thought it was funny anyway.

You'all know it's Friday, right? Time to get that weekend mind set organizaed and flowing.

Boiler up!

Russell Cross leaps to mind.

R Cross probably could have benefited from another year in school.....was a beast down low, but he did not have much of a perimeter game at all. Back in those days, there was no "flexibility" rule with declaring for the NBA draft AND he still ended up being the sixth pick in the first round (pre-lottery days) to Golden State.

After he left, Purdue was picked by many for last or next-to-last in the conference.....enter a "stronger" Jim Rowinski to help carry the Boilers to a shared conference title with Illinois.

I agree that Cross would have benefitted from another year at Purdue, but IIRC he had a bad knee. I think he felt he needed to get what money he could before it gave out completely. Another year playing for Purdue might have done him in.

I don't disagree with you, Math.....and I vaguely remember he had some knee issue....there's no way of telling if staying for his senior year would have prolonged his NBA career, which was very short. Hard to think he could have improved his draft status. Olajuwon, Jordan, and Barkley were all in the top 5 in the next draft. Maybe Portland would have taken him #2 instead of Sam Bowie, and R Cross would have been that trivia answer going forward.

Evaluation process and the information sharing is completely different now. On top of that he has Rosie giving him advice. Of course there is a chance, anytime someone has a choice they can make there is a chance. I just think it is EXTREMELY unlikely he goes to the NBA. If he wanted to make money he would have a better chance getting a paycheck overseas. Don't see that happening.

He is nowhere in any mock drafts and no scout that has been interviewed thinks he is ready. You don't go from that to a 1st round pick. He will be back after a summer of hard work and he will be a much improved player for PU next season. Next year at this time we could be having a completely different conversation!

It would be interesting to know what's going on inside Biggies head. Has one year at Purdue made him a boiler at heart and looking forward to soph year or is it a year that in his mind did not get him any closer to his pro pursuits. If he is totally in this thing for himself, I can see him willing not to be drafted and taking his chances to get signed as a free agent. Possibly even considering overseas.
This is a big spring for MP if Biggie officially leaves. 5 open schollies. If this scenario becomes reality, this is our likely starting line up unless CE is the stud we are all hoping for.

Edwards
Smothermon
Haas
Thompson
Mathias
Bench
Cline, Taylor and Edwards

We need immediate help on frontline......can MP get it done? I have my doubts but he does have some playing time for sale in this scenario.
Isn't this fun, speculating on 18 year old kids that we know nothing about and throwing out foobar stuff that will be agreed upon or shot down.

Biggie's not going anywhere. Rosie is not an idiot.
I tend to believe this as well. That said, Biggie doesn't "need" Rosie's approval quite like he did when he signed his LOI. With an NBA contract (even if not in the 1st round), he would have his own income stream, which is often what determines when kids no longer "need" parents' approval on their decisions. Not trying to suggest Biggie and Rosie aren't aligned, just saying that Rosie probably had a considerable amount more influence 12 months ago than he does now.

A person calling someone else clueless and naive when they themselves have claimed Stephens kept CMP's job because he single handily won multiple games for Purdue is a bit ridiculous.

I think Biggie will find out or at least get advice on what he needs to work on in the draft workouts and return for his sophomore year.

if Biggie goes, we should go after Giddens.

Maybe they should but I personally feel confident that he will return. I'm sure his guardian, Roosevelt Barnes, will talk with him about it after those workouts, since he has been one of the main influences in guiding him to this level of play in the first place.

Edit: Daniel Giddens would have sit out a season. I'm not sure that they're willing to bring in an unproven talent to sit out a season.

I can't imagine Biggie leaving. However, it only takes one team to tell him they'd take him early. I don't see it and think he returns.

As far as the offseason additions go for Purdue, I believe that the best immediately-eligible transfers available right now would be:

SG Rodney Pryor (Robert Morris): http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/2523/robert-morris-robert-morris

SG Akeem Springs (Wisconsin-Milwaukee): http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/270/milwaukee-panthers

and PG/SG Grant Mullins (Columbia): http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/171/columbia-lions

Just a shot in the dark but is Mumlins the son of former NBA player Chris Mullins?

No, there's a one-letter difference in the last name (Chris Mullin). Grant Mullins is listed as being from Burlington, Ontario (Canada).

As an aside, it seems like there's been a lot more high-profile Canadian born or raised guys in NCAA Basketball over the last 5 years or so.
