Rutgers to fill Texas A&M's spot in Gator Bowl after COVID-19 issues force Aggies to withdraw
The Scarlet Knights will take on Wake Forest on Dec. 31 after Texas A&M withdrew

Wonder how this plays out?
Wonder why a 5-7 ILL doesn't get a call? They have B1G alignments too.Rumor is that 5-7 Cal could get a call. Or that a lucky team gets to play two bowl games

How far down the list would a 2-10 B1G team be?Could be they are using the APR tool. I mean Cal could be the top of the list and they work their way down.
They would be a great pick, since they have performed so well in the last 30 years in bowl gamesHow far down the list would a 2-10 B1G team be?
Do they even have enough players remaining? They would be a great pick, since they have performed so well in the last 30 years in bowl games
It was originally rumored Rutgers initially declined and thus Illinois and others thought they had a crack at it.NYC papers saying Rutgers is the choice over Illinois because they have a very small advantage in APR.
It does seem to defeat every purpose other than a few extra bucks for the conference. Rutgers is only going to get in a few extra practices at this point and will likely lose the game. If I were Rutgers I’d be demanding an extra 10 practices in the spring as compensation.NY papers saying that Rutgers will accept the offer. They have not played or practiced for a month. It seems very one-sided in the prep for the game. Bringing in Rutgers at this point seems crazy to me, but it appears that is what they plan to do. My wife is a Rutgers grad and fan and even she dislikes the idea.
rutgers is in no position to demand anything. Ncaa could just move past them and take illinois or a team that has already played in bowl.It does seem to defeat every purpose other than a few extra bucks for the conference. Hope so as this makes no sense. This smells of a PU/Auburn game.

I guess this bowl should be happy, if all this works out with Rutgers. No matter the outcome of the final score.
The Hawaiian Bowl with Hawaii and Memphis was to be played today in Hawaii. Hawaii said due to a recent surge of COVID that the game got cancelled. They cancelled it last yesterday after Memphis has been there for a few days. I guess the Memphis players and traveling fans got a great vacation I guess, but not much else after traveling such a great distance to play.
The weird part of this is exactly as you have described. Symptoms are relatively mild, yet CANCELLATION must happen mentality and decision makers are shitting their pants. This sh*t is so stupid. Cancelling a bowl game because... cases of OMICRON are "surging". They've had "about 20". (About)
"Cases"
Of Omicron
Symptoms:
- Cough
- Fatigue or tiredness
- Congestion and runny nose
- Sore throat
Apparently, I've had Omicron about every other winter for many years.
