Game vs. Buffalo notes

How do you give a team 25 foul shots and commit 24 To’s and win handily as Purdue had an average lead of 15 through the second half. The other team does the same, but, unlike the last game you hit 11 3’s. Moore hit for 20 and shows some promise, but Traylor and Farquar, who leads the nation in rebounding, are mostly what Purdue has. Layden had three 3’s and showed a good stroke and great passing ability. Versyp played everyone. Grant played solid minutes and reduced Stallings time.. This team has ranged between looking very good and looking like a bad vaudeville act. There is no way to tell for sure until they start BT play next week. Honestly, I don’t expect them to do very well. Probably the most important thing though was seeing McLaughlin walking around normally even though she did not dress. Her return is probably the key factor in this season. On her podcast, she said she could be back in 2 weeks.

My take after watching the first 3 games:
1. STallings is a great story and shows what a will to accomplish can do instead of feeling sorry for yourself. But, she is a liability because she can't use her one hand(and I feel terrible saying that because she is such a hard worker and great person.
2. Traylor is our best player but she still isn't great.
3. It seems as if no one can make lay-ups and our bigs never go up strong(seem very weak)
4. Moore may have scored 20, but for a supposed #45 best player in the country her high school year she has lots of deficiences
5. Our Bigs can't jump. They barely get off the floor. Kyle gets blocked by a 6 foot player.
6. When we get open on the inside the passes are always a second or so late to negate it.
7. WE are quite terrible at shooting threes
8. WE are slow afoot with almost all the players
9. I am giving Layden a pass because of her injury but right now she is very slow, can't jump, doesn't play defense well because she is slow.
10. THe officiating is so bad in womans games that is embarassing.

I'm glad I'll finally get to see the next couple games. On the regular Big Ten network instead of just Big Ten +.

Again I see people saying Madison isn't playing well but I look at the box score and she leads the team on the Plus/Minus with a +19.

I very interested to see Brooke Moore. I've never seen her play but she sure looked good in the highlights.

I'm also excited to see Ra Shaya Kyle for the first time. As far as her not being able to jump real high, I would say very few bigs in the women's game have very big verticals. They really don't need to, with that size she just needs to be smart with her positioning and shot fakes and she'll be able to score on most.

I've always liked Farquhar even before injury. I think she is an awesome rebounder but it looks like she has really improved her shot now too.

Also looking forward to seeing Kayana Traylor. She has always had the talent but from the highlights it looks like her confidence is sky high. To me, in sports, and really life in general, confidence is the most important thing.
