So I live in Denver and obviously want to go to the game. For those who have been to tournament games in the past, how readily available are tickets on the street before the game? Right now, tickets on stubhub are way over $100 for decent seats - and it seems like you have to buy a ticket for the entire session and not a single game. But when you watch these early games on TV, no one is at the arena, so that makes me think tickets should be pretty darn available. Anyone have suggestions?

I'd suggest trying to get them through Purdue first. You'll pay face value, but they will be lower level seats (or at very worst club level). You'll also get to be with Purdue fans. And if Purdue wins, they will automatically order your tickets for the next round. If they lose, you're off the hook.

Obviously JPC members have ticket priority. Not sure if they will take orders from non-JPC members or not from day 1. Consider the $200 donation if you aren't a member (lower level tickets will cost a lot more than this, especially if we play 2 games). This is a swift process, so make sure you make their deadlines.

You can also play the Little Rock ticket office game too...

I've had luck in the past going through the tournament site, but that is face value, and I don't know now if you can just buy individual sessions.....used to be able to do that.

Good luck.

JPC members have until 1:00 tomorrow to request tickets for Denver. Based on point system for JPC. If tickets are still available after 1:00 tomorrow they will be open to the public.

Where will the be open to the public? On Purdue's website?

I live in Denver as well.

Also, if I just pay $200 and become a JPC member and request tickets, do you think I'll get them? How many can one request?

Purdue ticket office.

Doubtful. Each team isn't given that many and the point system isn't going to be in your favor by just joining now. That said, why don't you join anyway? Every fan that can afford to go to a tournament game should be a JPC member. It's the lifeblood of our athletic program. (I'm off my soapbox now)

Since the games are in Denver you may stand a chance (not exactly close for most JPC members) so give it a go. Let us know if you got them!

I'll become a member at some point, for sure. Just took the bar and in between jobs at the moment, so I don't want to spend $200 unless I'm getting tickets.

Looks like I'll just have to wait to see if any go on sale to the public.

When they came to DC, all JPC members who requested tickets got them. However, you aren't talking about a lot of tickets that Purdue's given - so a difference of just 2-3 more JPC members requesting tickets can bump you out.

However, what I said before is why I'd suggest making the gift and trying for it - you will get GOOD lower level tickets at face value.

You can try calling the ticket office around noon tomorrow and seeing where they are at with requests. They aren't going to lie to you. The worst they'll say is they don't know - but I'm sure you can find someone who can give you an idea of how strong ticket sales have been. If they say they don't know, you can test your luck to try and buy them at 1 pm on the dot. The fact that the game is Thursday during the day - probably will lead to lower demand from existing JPC members traveling out.

I would 100% try to get them from Purdue before you go any other route. The worst case is you'll know by 1:05 whether you have tickets or not tomorrow. I would definitely call them and be pro-active - there's a lot of Purdue alumni in Colorado FYI.

Thanks for the advice. My experience with the secondary market is that usually ticket prices tend to drop on the day of the game anyway. So I'll definitely try and get tickets through Purdue tomorrow, hopefully the have some that go on sale to the public.

Also, if you don't get them through Purdue tomorrow - you can try through Arkansas LR. You'll get lower level tickets still at face value. Not sure what their fan base is like.

You can also try Iona (can't imagine they will be selling out). Obviously if Iona were to lose, you won't get tickets for the next round - and vice versa, if Iona wins and Purdue loses, you'd be on the hook for the next round. Same with LR - if they happened to beat us, you'd be on the hook for the next round. In those cases (knock on wood, it doesn't happen), you can't typically pick up your tickets lil prior to the game, so tougher to sell.

I did fill out the Arkansas-LR form for tickets.

I'm gonna find a way to go one way or another. I haven't seen this team in person since I graduated in 2011. So I'm glad they're playing here in Denver. Just trying to get in while making the smallest dent to my wallet.

for those who have been before, are there usually scalpers outside the arena selling tix?

If I want to go to Chicago, but not Denver, should I wait until after this weekend to purchase? Or can I get them now? If I have a better chance of getting them now for a cheaper price, I'm willing to risk us not making it and trying to sell them.

This is how you do it^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Yes, but it is situation dependent. When Purdue was in DC, the other teams playing in their session were West Virginia and Duke - 2 fairly local teams that drove up prices big time.

However, a lot of these sites do not have arenas packed full of the 4 teams fans playing in that session. A lot of people just go for fun. If there isn't a big demand from people who don't already have tickets - you may not find a lot of scalpers.

If you know you can go, I'd go ahead and try to get them from Purdue (or AR LR/Iona). Again, they will be lower level tickets at face value - something you're probably not going to get regardless of demand. You may get a below face in the upper level.

If you find tickets you want at a price you think is good, get them (I'd find out what face value is). However, who is playing will largely determine prices.

This regional looks like it will have healthy ticket demand no matter who goes. Whether Iowa State or Purdue goes, either would have good fan showing. Michigan State obviously would. And Dayton/Syracuse would probably be pretty decent too.

Keep in mind what you pay for them on StubHub (including all fees) - if you want to make your money back, you'll need to sell them like 15% higher than what you paid (StubHub keeps 15%). So if you buy tickets for $100 - StubHub adds a 10% fee, so you pay $110 plus all the taxes and such. So when you go to sell them, to get your $110 back, you'll have to sell them at a list price $127. So you have to increase $27 just to break even.

Anyone talk to the ticket office today?

I didn't even get an email about tickets and I'm a JPC member.

This is going to come out wrong and some will take it the wrong way...but here goes:
If you're a Purdue grad, and you didn't get a degree in art history or women's studies or some other useless major, you shouldn't be fretting about spending a couple hundred bucks to see your school live in the NCAA tourney. Especially if it's not requiring airfare, rental cars, hotel stays, etc.
Come on, spend a little $ and encourage all your fellow alum within a few hours drive to do the same.

Didn't hear anything today. Got an e-mail right after the brackets were announced last night reminding me that we had until 1:00 today to request tickets for Denver.

I'm really hoping we make sweet 16 because Chicago is doable, Denver doesn't work.

A friend of mine is flying out to Denver (has family out there). His round trip flight from Chicago was $300 non-stop. Not bad actually.

I got a call from the Arkansas-Little rock office, they had lower level tickets available for face value for the first session.

That is very reasonable. If it weren't for this damn thing called work I would be there!!!

Apparently they are stricter about JPC orders this year. I guess last year JPC members ordered their tickets for Kentucky fans (shocking). Now the JPC member has to pick the tickets up themselves. No name changes.

I was told by a JPC rep that if I joined today, they'd give me the option of purchasing 2 tickets, but by the end of it all it came out to a little more than I wanted to spend. I fully plan on becoming a JPC member after I get my bar results and my job becomes full time, just not right now.

The Purdue ticket office said they won't be getting extras because they have enough ticket requests from JPC members.

I did, however, end up finding pretty decent tickets on Stubhub and just went ahead and bought them. $95 each for Session 1 on Thursday, and $110 each for Session 3 on Saturday. Looking at Stubhub now, it seems like I got a very good deal.

Very excited to be cheering on the Boilers this week! My first game since I graduated in 2011, couldn't be more excited!
