Just a quick summary after watching the game twice and reading most of the threads:
Defense played well enough to win, saw some looks I haven't seen in the past from Purdue, seemed to be in good condition and for the most part was in the right place at the right time. Far from perfect BUT played good enough to have a W instead of the L. Couple mistakes and penalties that hurt but I like how they have been coached and it is plain to see they are.
Offense, AA had a tough day and he is not a zone read QB and should be in a play action type offense with more snaps under center! IMO he would perform better. Needed to see some traditional screens not bubble and better reads on their coverage. Our best wide-out was limping throughout the game and is nowhere near 100%. Liked that we tried and did successfully throw long but overall our WR's got no separation and we run some awful vanilla routes! Line did a pretty good job zone and man blocking and will get better as the year goes on if there are no injuries! Young backs missed some protection pickups but that is understandable! Those calling for Blough will see him if we continue to use AA as we do! Let the frosh heal and learn...from who is debatable!
Play calling as most have indicated was predictable, vanilla and suspect as if we had studs at every position like an Alabama or OSU has that can just overpower the opposition. Shoop has, as always it seems, no 2nd half sustainable game calling skills and shows he cannot adjust to opponents halftime changes! He and his offense doesn't match the skills of our players once again!
Field Goal miss after three runs up the gut netted us 0 when we could have used the points or a TD after their turnover...very key possession of the game! Are we better, yes as I said we all will have a very clear idea where this is going after the Va Tech game and I have stated where I think that is! JMO
