It seems to me that there are 5 teams this year at a different level than purdue. Kansas, UNC, kentucky, duke and ucla (maybe arizona too I didn't see enough to be confident). Those teams would give purdue trouble every game and would probably win a 7 game series in 5.

I believe every other team would give the boilers around a 50/50 shot to win a series.

I know I'm disappointed in the ending but it came at the hands of a better team. That's part luck and part being a 4 seed instead of a 2 or 3 (although 3 of the teams are in that same range). Matchups definitely play a big role for a team like purdue that is never going to have the best athleticism.

I still think this will be remembered as a good season, not great but successful, and I hope things build from this point. Next year's teams should be very good again and with some strides and some luck could be great.

I think your assessment is accurate. Those 5-6 teams have talent that exceeds the talent on our team significantly. Better shooters, faster guards, better wings, better front court players. We have faced teams with one or two of these factors, but teams with 3 or all 4 advantages will most likely win the games consistently.

Like you said, this was a successful season, that I am very proud of. I see us having a similar level of success next year too. All I can say is thank you to the kids that worked so hard to get there.

To be clear, those 5 teams are a different level than pretty much every other school in the country, not just Purdue.

I said it for quite some time - outside of the top 5 or so teams in the country, basically anyone can beat anyone through the top 30-40 teams. We didn't see a lot of 'cinderella' teams this year, just major conference teams that were lower seeded.
