Da'Wan Hunte didn't practice today. He appeared to have a brace on his right ankle, which would be new/newsy. Last week when we saw him, he had a compression-type sleeve on his right lower leg, which would have covered the calf that Hazell said Hunte got kicked in. But there was nothing on his calf today, which could indicate it's not a calf injury and it's actually an ankle. Or it may not indicate that. But we'll find more out Wednesday — Hunte is on our interview list, and we'll also get Hazell again.

It would be a significant blow to the defense if Hunte does not play. He is by far the best cornerback and the options after him are a considerable drop off — in my opinion, but I actually think that is something @Kyle_GoldandBlack.com and I agree on (shock-face emoticon). Tim Cason got beat deep again today in one-on-one press man coverage. He hasn't shown yet this camp he can stop it. That's concerning, especially considering Purdue appears to be putting their CBs in those situations consistently. (Even if Ross Els saw this happen all spring, too.) Myles Norwood would be the opposite CB, and freshman Josh Hayes and transfer Kamal Hardy appear to be working with the 2s right now. None of those four options has me especially comfortable.

• After what was generally a solid fall camp/last week of practice, Domonique Young dropped three passes today. Normally, a guy has a day like that you just chalk it up to a bad day. Which is what I hope we can do here. But it's a bit concerning with Young because he's a guy who's had a tendency to get too much in his head. If his confidence wavers, he could be in trouble. Eager to see what kind of a practice he has Wednesday. Could be a potentially telling one of growth for him.

• It appears Purdue is preparing for both EKU quarterbacks. In its scout offense, it had Aaron Banks wearing Bennie Coney's No. 4 and freshman walk-on Danny Carrollo in Maty Mauk's No. 7.
