NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — Sorry for lack of updates today, but there weren't really any interviews to speak of, for one thing, but here's some stuff from today.
• Isaiah Thompson was outstanding tonight, saving his Indy Heat team against Nike Team Florida, which led by 15ish in the first half before Thompson's 11-point, 90-second run just before half. Thompson was great in the second half, also, playing well with a lead after Indy Heat took a lead. He was strong with the ball, made great decisions against pressure and was just in command.
Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 24, I think maybe all of them on dunks.
I'll have a story and video on Thompson later.
• Malik Hall was very good in his game tonight. Didn't see their game in the morning. I don't know if he's helped his stock, per se, but he's certainly not hurt it. He's been very, very good and is just such a good and complete player.
Thing with him is, he's basically very Vincent Edwardsish, but he's so big and strong that that is really the difference. He's physically ready for college now, or at least close to it, and that coupled with the toughness he plays with and is well-rounded offensive game is really a great combination.
Head coaches Matt Painter, Dana Altman and Lon Kruger (who had a commitment also playing in the game) were at the game tonight.
Painter flew to NYC tonight to hit the end of adidas.
• Rough showing for Meanstreets, with Brandon Newman and Armaan Franklin, but those two were OK here. Painter made it to at least a half of all their games here, as he did for Indy Heat and Drive Nation (with Drew Timme).
• Purdue is talking to St. Louis forward E.J. Liddell, he said, but hasn't offered yet. Probably no point in doing so now. Duke and North Carolina have started on him.
• Can't remember if I mentioned this yet, but North Carolina has been calling consistently on Trayce Jackson-Davis.
Story on Thompson forthcoming ...
