Fraud Alert

We lost to Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska. I don't think we have any room to talk.
I see you are focusing on who each team lost to rather than considering who each team has beat. Wisky is 0-2 vs teams with a .500 or better record in the B1G. Purdue is 5-1 against the same group.

Both who you beat and who has beaten you should be considered.

I believe that Purdue is better but that doesn't make a team a fraud. Hopefully we are better than some other pretty good teams.

I've watched them a handful of times this season and they've never passed the "eye test". I get where the OP is coming from.

Agree the OP has a point. Wisky is a senior laden team which is playing efficiently and consistently so. Therefore they do not lose to teams who are of inferior talent level. Purdue through the season has shown, when focused, to have a higher ceiling than Wisky. I'm hoping we have been seeing the focus become consistent for us.

These threads no make no sense to me. How is a team a "fraud" ? They still had to win the games they played and I think it is more that NW is better than people think as opposed to UW being a "fraud".

Regardless of whether Wisconsin is legit or not, I think my preference would have been for them to win out and for Purdue to have finished the B10 regular season with second seed in the BTT. I would think if that if Wisconsin had ended the B10 season with only 1 conference loss they would have been ranked in the top 5 in country just due to attrition. That would make Purdue's victory against them all the more impressive from an NCAA selection standpoint. Couple that with the chance to beat them again in the BTT as a national top 5, and I think that would have been a much more valuable scenario than the chance to win the B10 regular season conference title in a league that everyone seems to think is pretty mediocre.

Fraud? I wouldn't go that far.
Overrated? For sure. That #7 ranking was very misleading. They have been flirting with very poor teams lately and they got caught last night. When you can't score 60 in your own building against a depleted NW team, you have a problem. Their offense is stagnant and they don't have a defense to make up for it. Not a recipe for tournament success.

They are a good team, but not a top 10 team in the country.

i think the OP's words were poorly chosen.
Regardless, Wisconsin does need to show they can win against teams with a winning record. They have several opportunities to prove the OP wrong or right over the next two weeks.

Wisky is definitely over-rated, especially compared to us. I think we are the better team by far. I believe if we win the BT regular season and the BTT, we should be a #3 or #4 seed at least. If not it looks like a #5 or #6 seed. I still think the BIG is being disrespected quite a bit. I think we are better overall than the SEC for instance, but its the BIG that keeps being labeled as having a down year. I am definitely going to be rooting for all the BIG Ten teams in the tournament, especially since it looks like IU won't be among them. ;)

Wisconsin has lost to the best teams it has played for the most part, but it is still a top 20 team. Things drop off pretty quickly.

Seems to me that there's a top 7 or 8 nationally. Then a mass from 8 to 15 (which I believe Purdue is in). Any of those top 15 could make the Final Four this year with some match up luck. Then there's another group that includes Wisconsin that goes to about 22 that would need everything to fall into place to make a deep run.

I don't know if I'd call them consistent. They've played down to some pretty weak opponents and have done just enough to win, assisted in each case by poor free throw shooting and/or execution by the opponent in the last few minutes. The difference with Northwestern is that they continued to execute when Wisconsin tried to make their late run.

IMO, their defense has been excellent. That's one area where I will give them a lot of credit.

I agree that their offense has been stagnant. In the games I watched their offense was not impressive at all.
