I wonder how many four and five star recruits played last night for PSU.The four star guys I know of that played for Purdue were Hartwig,Rice and possibly Reese Taylor.Who else did Purdue have?I didnt see Yanni out there.Did he play?

Man...I hate to agree, but, he did...that guy is a shell of the player that he once was, and, a guy that in knowing just good and talented he was, I had hoped that he would be impactful...like Tracy, he was...just not in the right way unfortunately.Taylor played like a 2 star.
I thought Ansell had a pretty good game. Long of 55, pinned one inside the 5, averaged 43.4 with decent hang time.Man...I hate to agree, but, he did...that guy is a shell of the player that he once was, and, a guy that in knowing just good and talented he was, I had hoped that he would be impactful...like Tracy, he was...just not in the right way unfortunately.
Jones is a steal from the portal, but, the other guys were largely busts in their first chance to do/show something.
And, on that note...Purdue still lacks a quality punter as well...shame on them for not getting that matter fixed as well in knowing that it indeed was a problem.
The 55-yard punt was into the end zone when it was the last thing wanted/needed, and, on the heels of a really poor 38-yard punt the possession before. That average is skewed by the 55-yard punt that sailed into the end zone...41-yards absent it. Hang time probably was not bad to your point, but, PSU was far more effective in the punting game and it made a difference.I thought Ansell had a pretty good game. He did a decent job. You're going to get an occasional touchback. Punting is pretty far down on the list of reasons that game was lost. Lack of punt return was probably more significant. The 55-yard punt was into the end zone when it was the last thing wanted/needed, and, on the heels of a really poor 38-yard point the possession before. Agree in that it is way down the list...just felt like whereas PSU excelled generally in the punt game, that Purdue did not match that...the 38-yard punt was not a good one at a time when pinning them deep would have helped, and, on the next one when just an average punt by his standards would have served Purdue well, he drilled one...into the end zone.He did a decent job. To the point about fixing it, Ansell was the fix they went out and got last off season. You just never quite know what you're gong to get with these guys. Reports out of camp was more consistency with a year of American football under his belt. We'll see I guess.
He made a really good tackle too. I know it didn't count, but good to see a punter make a play like that.I thought Ansell had a pretty good game. Long of 55, pinned one inside the 5, averaged 43.4 with decent hang time.
Though he didn't have near the game as Jones, I thought Humpich had a good game in limited opportunities.Man...I hate to agree, but, he did...that guy is a shell of the player that he once was, and, a guy that in knowing just good and talented he was, I had hoped that he would be impactful...like Tracy, he was...just not in the right way unfortunately.

didn't think the LB play was that good.Though he didn't have near the game as Jones, I thought Humpich had a good game in limited opportunities.
He was the speed threat on the field to get to the QB. The only one really. The DTs arent out there for that I know, but Jenkins, Sydnor and others were just kind of bystanders out there at times last night.Though he didn't have near the game as Jones, I thought Humpich had a good game in limited opportunities.
Had some average to bad punts in some important spots last night. That said, he was bad for 3-4 games last year and then it clicked for him. Maybe the same happens this year. Wasn't a bright spot but it sure as hell wasn't why we lost last night. He did a decent job. You're going to get an occasional touchback.
