I have followed Purdue b'ball since Rick Mount's days and I don't remember any outright booing of our teams, but I do remember a game against Ohio State my senior year in 1978 when the home crowd applauded OSU for their performance at Mackey. Purdue was a heavy favorite and were pre-season contenders for the B1G championship with Walter Jordan, Wayne Walls, Eugene Parker et. al. and OSU came in with a very young and underdog team that included Kelvin Ransey, Herb Williams, Jim Smith, Mike Cline (Ryan's dad I assume) and outhustled and outperformed us all night only to see us pull out a 2 point win at the end. I think Purdue's crowd appreciated the effort from the Buckeyes that night and were growing tired of Purdue's lackadaisical play that year. That team totally underperformed and lost their last 2 against Northwestern and Illinois on the road to finish 16-11 overall and 11-7 in the B1G. That was also Fred Schaus's last year as coach IIRC. Ohio State blew us out in Columbus about 2 weeks later.
