What have "we" done to create a condition that allows kids to not give a shit? Maybe there is a lot to that story that society has created? Truly, parents have NO clue! Can't teach if there is no discipline...all true! I would have expected a bit over 60K for a masters + 30...
I think everybody that works a few years would be better off with their money rather that it going to social security. Your money would grow much...much more if invested than the 2% or so social security gives you and if you died before ocial security...you would have something. Most won't put a pencil to it though and really don't know the growth. What did the 18 year old that died at 45 in an automobile accident or another means get when he or she died at 45 versus what money they could have if not in social security. How many 18, 19,20, 25,35,45 and so on age people pay in and get nothing when they become the statistic of the mortality table?
Unfortunately there are way too many people that don't make enough or have the intelligence to invest as you suggest. Social security is their only chance to have a limited chance of retirement.
Well, I like the opt out option the repubs wanted years ago, but he dems fooled so many that it is not an option. I also know that when we judge results of current things a change in the independent variable may change the output. What would happen if people knew they had to be more responsible? I believe that most would...but a very small amount would be incapable of understanding and so there would always be a small amount that will need help. We have just grown that help significantly over the years...
So say you work for a computer company... just say you do...
That industry was entirely subsidized for some three decades by taxpayers... the pentagon being used AS their consumer before computers were viable as a consumer product.. that is what the Star Wars program was...
So, we the taxpayers are gonna need all that money back with interest... those trillions from tech people in gated communities should fund social security and everything else quite nicely ....
Social security isn’t bankrupting shit... trillions in war spending for wars that are unnecessary and that NOBODY WANTS ... as well as the trillions in corporate welfare and giveaways over the years that NOBODY WANTS...
Those are THE reason for problems and the reason we can’t have massive social programs and infrastructure programs ....

I implied I'd rather it not be stolen (not have to pay into it if I didn't want to be in it) from me and that I would end up with much more money if I invested it rather than the 2% growth or so. You can debate how you wish your money were spent...I don't have a problem with that...why should I? I just said the social security thing doesn't really help working people as much as they could do by themselves more often than not. You appear to want a different approach for government...more intrusion, but different. I want less intrusion...period.
a person that got 2% on his money for 40 years (18 through 58) would grow about 2.21 times more than he put in. That same person getting 6% on his money for the same duration would get 10.29 times the original money. 1.02**40 versus 1.06**40
And I’d rather money not have been stolen from me, my parents and my grandparents for giveaways to millionaires and billionaires forever...

No, the reason we don’t have the massive socialistic programs you want is that the majority of this nation aren’t buying what you’re selling. They don’t want a government controlling their lives anywhere near the extent your system requires.
Government control is like your religion. If we don’t believe like you want, we’ll force you to or send you to the gulags or kill you.

That is why less power, the less crooked. I don't disagree at all with the government being crooked. I just disagree that you can remove it entirely and that the government knows best where "MY MONEY: should go.
I'm too independent and do a lot of things myself to wish to be a slave on the government plantation. I do NOT want a large government and then you will have more money to feed your interests as YOU see fit. I want less government overall and certainly a lot less at the feds shifting much of the remaining to the states. I'm not as much into picking winners and loser dependent on the government of the time wishes. We agree on the crooked government, but you think it can be reformed and I only think that is possible by making it smaller and moving much of the remaining closer to the people of the area.

B) start throwing politicians and wealthy corporate people in PRISON for Doings like crashing the world economy ... and have a populist media who can not only identify things that we spend trillions on that benefit no one... but also expose people like dick Cheney.. make them and their families (direct benefit) pay back every f-ing dime in restitution and then a functional justice department to try these people...

What I said time and time again was that the smaller the government the less crooked it can be. Do you disagree with this and if you don't ..how does a smaller government result in more waste and crooked influence? Teh other thing I said was to move things more to the state and local governments...closer to the people. This in itself ensures more oversight and "should" result in less waste and corruption. If you disagree, then tell me why the state would have more waste and corruption. Those are the scope of much I said...not sure where you are going?
BTW...a cursory review of education would show pretty much a straight line of academic measure compared to an exponential growth of money spent on k-12. I can point to nothing that suggests the government people pulled from the population is inherently smarter that the ones not pulled, but still lie int eh population. If people are too dumb to manage themselves, how did they become so smart when working inside the government?

The government didn’t become more corrupt because its larger in tax dollars... because those tax dollars have been spent at a lower rate on he actual people in my life. The government has become more corrupt as a result of decisions like Buckley v Valero...
Again, let’s get a media that is depropagandized and make politicians say “yes! I want to localize government so that if you live in a rich town it’s great and if you don’t (but still work in the rich town) it’s worse.” If they get elected without being able to hide who they are... then that’s democracy ...

You are missing a key point here. One of the main functions of our federal government is to “provide for the common defense”. The government doesn’t make armaments - they use them. Do you want to make armaments a public industry, having the government control all means of production? That would be a disaster.
Also, over the years the US has become the de facto protector of Israel (vs Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas), Europe (vs Russia) and our Asian allies (vs China, North Korea).
Brutal, repressive regimes only understand one stance - strength. When you show weakness they will attack and provoke. Peace through strength works.
No I want them to stop lying us into wars and start to be responsive to people who want it to end and for us to use those resources HERE. Many libertarians agree on that.

Well said. I'd take it a step further and say party affiliation is completely destroying society from the inside out. Just look at this thread. There are like 3 or 4 people interested in engaging in a reasonable conversation about issues without name calling. Look at the OP's approach to even initiating the conversation. This is the exact same approach that far too many politicians take these days as well. And polarizing politicians remain in power by devoting more and more time to intentional divide than by actually trying to find comprise and solutions for the constituents than they represent. And the people they represent continue to vote for them because they're obviously too stupid to care. This country is going to shit at an unreal pace.

He gave the example of the Clinton era and kids... “this is for the kids” “kids kids kids” “you could get anything passed in the name of the children”... he continues.. “but when you step back and realize that life got worse for kids.. all you really got was telecom deregulation, bank deregulation and more prisons.”

I agree that the regime change mentality of the Bushes and Clinton’s has to stop (Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, etc). Trump is trying to do that. He’s trying to avoid wars. The globalists /open borders crowd are the ones pushing for these wars. And where have the Syrians, Iraqis, and Libyans flooded? Europe and to a lesser extent the USA. Anyone who says that these wars weren’t started on purpose is being very naive.
Again, Socialism has never solved corruption, and neither has Democracy. "Democratic Socialism" won't either. Human nature is to leverage power to personal benefit, and that's what will happen regardless of the system. Bernie hasn't cracked the code on anything other than energizing naive young people who will someday be the older, wealthier people who have to fund all the BS Bernie wants the government to do.
In fact, Socialism in practice has led to some of the most corrupt regimes in world history.
Things went well from 33-80... when we were much closer to mass prosperity than sanders could bring us in his life.
You had more socialism ... in a democracy, you should never get full socialism.. because no everyone wants socialism... the best you can hope for in a democracy is heavy socialist influence.. or:
