beginning of the end! Ticket sales and interest are about as low as I can remember and if Purdue cannot play better on the field AND post 4 or more wins, for me, it would be time to cut bait and fish regardless of the cost of removing this Head Coach and his Staff!

Seriously hope that it is the beginning of the resurrection but it IS time to see it reflected on the scoreboard and in the Won/Loss column!

I wish them well and will give the team a chance before I decide on Hazell and company this season.

I think that its perfectly fine to have expectations of real improvement this season.

The public will, in the end, be the jury and judge on Hazell and friends.

Cue the "Hazell has already failed, so he's MOST DEFINITELY going to fail again" crowd.

The thing for me is that last year prior to Anthrop going down I felt like this team had a legitimate chance at 5 to 6 wins. The Minnesota game was "one that got away" and had we been able to carry the offensive momentum from the middle of the season through the end we would have beaten IU and who knows, maybe even competed in some of the other games.

I know they only won 3, but last year's squad looked like a 5 win team in the middle of the season. I understand that our schedule is tough this year, but I'm very optimistic about getting to 5 or 6 wins this season.

I predicted 6-6 but it's a low ball prediction. This team has a great opportunity to have a great season. This team has a lot of talent. I can't wait for the Marshall game. That game is huge for us.

Really the team could have won 7 last year. Iowa was there for the taking but our offense was brutal that game pre-Appleby.
Also we should have won the IU and MINN game and we laid an egg against CMU. I think this years team, with the age and experience with most guys including backups being 3rd year in the system, we should all be expecting no less than 6 wins, with a chance for 8. I think the QB/receiver play is going to determine our success.
We just need to get off to a good start by beating Marshall and ISU and go into the VT game like it's the biggest game in recent program history, guns-a-blazing.

Agree..the Marshall game is crucial for establishing momentum...if we can go 3-1...we are going to a bowl. Beat Virginia Tech and we could be a see us be a 7 game winner. Yes, I am a Kool I'd drinker. Norm

Wow, this thread stayed positive. Love it. Excited to see the program turn the corner and play consistently!

Team was pretty close last year, just had consistency issues. That happens a lot when a team is just finding success. I think that no matter what happens, we'll have a clearer picture of the direction we are headed in December!

Team very easily could have been 6-6 last season. Let games slip away in Iowa, Minny, and IU. I see no reason why they can't win those games this season. I get that the past two season were lousy in terms of Wins and Loses but lets not be naive to say there wasn't marked improvement in every area. That should continue and I believe by seasons end we will be looking at a 6, 7 or 8 win team.

We all truly do hope the Boilers win at least 4 to 5 games. It would really be cool to have a successfully program again. Whether it is Hazell or who ever in the Head Coaching position. I just get really embarrassed each Monday when Purdue lays another Easter Egg for the OSU, Michigan MSU and Wisconsin fans in my office. Unfortunately moral victories and close losses don't play well in competitive circles….

From the reports from camp it appears we have a problem with the QB'S and receivers. Lack consistancy. Until this problem is resolved it will be another 3 win season.

So the continuing trend of Elite 11 and record setting QBs having difficulty has not changed. What it the one constant factor in this problem???

hopefully it gets worked out, with 3 good QB's and surely a few good receivers on the team , you would think that this wouldn't be a problem

Back to a basic issue with Purdue/Hazell/Shoop has with rotated practice reps with the #1 unit. I hope this stops VERY VERY soon, make a choice at #1 and give him 90% of the reps until the season starts...absolutely hated to see this start AGAIN on Day 2! Two QB's means none and that consistency with never be at it's best if this continues!

They've said all along they will fully evaluate both with the first unit for two weeks and then make a decision. That seems fair. What I really don't look forward to is whoever gets the nod, every 3 and out series will start a thread on here titled "It's time to pull XX".

I think if they whiff on a 3rd QB, then it will be time to shift the blame from the kids to the guy who is being paid handsomely to set them up to succeed.

This is FB. There are no three strikes in FB. Shoop has been a "genius" screw up everywhere he's been. Why should it be any different here???
