Biggest issue in recruiting is too many long term career assistants on staff. Winning is no doubt a big issue as well, however there have been plenty of staffs at other programs that have recruited at a higher level (than current staff) before the winning started.
There is way too much pressure on Freeman and Parker to do everything in recruiting. I understand loyalty to assistants...but at some point Hazell has to get another couple assistants on staff like Freeman/Parker. The staff desperately needs more asst's that can relate better to 17 and 18 year olds.
That won't bring "kudos" at the time of the hire (like a "resume coach"), but find a young ambitious/personable coach like Freeman and it pays dividends on recruiting trail.
