"Burke has acknowledged the economic hit the entire athletic department takes while football struggles. He said this week that lower attendance is probably depriving Purdue athletics of about $5 million per season."

$5 million per season and the buyout for Hazell was 6.6 million. You do the math people.

I actually think, like most years, the attendance numbers will be ok for the non-conference games. If Purdue comes out and truly plays up to its potential and beats those teams like we believe they should, attendance will probably peak and stick around 40k. Those wouldn't be terrible numbers but I fear that Purdue drops a game to Cinncy or Nevada and the bottom drops out as the home slate is pretty weak this year beyond Iowa and Wisconsin.

If the attendance averages 35,000 for the non conference games I will be surprised.

It will start around 30K, and head south quickly from there.

Playing to "our potential" is what I'm concerned about. We're just not very good.

It will be interesting to see. Right now there is no interest in Purdue football. They desperately need to win some early games just to sell some tickets.

Purdue's pretty much hit rock bottom in terms of revenue from football in a major conference. It has gotten worse, but it's been VERY bad for a number of years now. This didn't start this year or the year before.

The problem is also that attendance doesn't necessarily matter. Are the people attending paying full price? Purdue was selling $5 tickets. 10,000 tickets at $5 ($50k/game, $300k+ a season) is a helluva lot different than 10,000 at $50 ($500k/game, $3+ million a season).

The math is simple and that is why Burke should have fired Hazell in 2014, at least that is my opinion. Train wreck continued in 15 and that is why Burke should have been fired, resigned, or reassigned. Bleeding won't stop until a competent coach is hired. Now we will be 2 years further away, and the likelyhood of finding another Tiller gets further away every year. Most people won't want to come here, and if they do and find some hint of success, they will be on the 1st train out of town (just like Tiller should have done when Alabama came calling).

Hazell is the this wood in the dumpster fire, but Morg is the rocket fuel!

Is the Tiller to Bama talk real? First i have heard of it.

We are now what IU was about 5 years ago - offering $1 and $5 tickets to get people in the seats. Pathetic.

Back when Tiller was around, good luck finding a cheap ticket, and MB still found a way to F that up by underpaying assistants and diverting funds to olympic sports. Way to go, MB. At least our womens softball stadium is plushly appointed.

And he probably has botched the women's bball program as well. Don't forget, his unwillingness to step up and lay Caroline Peck has led us down to this road. Had he stepped up and given her what she truly deserved, Purdue would have at least one other national title and multiple Elite Eights/Final Fours. Inevitably, he has moved too slow to make a change with Versyp and Stephanie White is now at Vandy with...you guessed it, Carolyn Peck on her staff there. If Katie Douglas doesn't make it up north from Marion soon, the ship has probably sailed on the women's bball program as well. Under Burke, in the last 10 years, what program has risen and been a mainstay to compete for conference titles and in the NCAA tourney? Men's golf? MAYBE women's soccer?

I'll give you the one program that hasnt suffered...women's volleyball, and that is because Purdue has retained Dave Shondell...somehow.

But you're facing criminal charges if you try to get $50 for this team.

Now that Morgan has screwed up the entire athletic department, with the exception of Women`s Volleyball, only Haze wishes to be laid by Morgan.....
Sorry folks.....I could not resist!!!!!
