He also wants a huge raise. One may be more important than the other. Not sure if fleck was ever a legit candidate but he may be out now. Western michigan won today and will play in the MAC championship. Fleck has said that he wants to coach that game. Everything that I have heard says Purdue wants to make a quick hire.

Might seem like wisdom, but not having boots on the ground in West Lafayette, IN kills recruiting and picking up any players that are still on the fence or where other coaches get canned and players start de-committing. The chance to breathe new life in recruiting is lost. Like the candidate, but must be willing to start on 11/26, 11/27 or 11/28 latest.I think both are possible - naming him tomorrow as Purdue's new coach AND Coaching out the season and WMU - if they see the wisdom of letting Fleck finish. In fact that happened with Haz.... at Kent State. Unlikely, but possible. It depends on his relationship with the AD and Prez of WMU.
If it is Fleck he has already had boots on the ground in the state of Indiana. WMU has 2 recruits from the state. So he is at least familiar with some of the area.Might seem like wisdom, but not having boots on the ground in West Lafayette, IN kills recruiting and picking up any players that are still on the fence or where other coaches get canned and players start de-committing. They won't worry about a week. All this quick hire chatter is nonsense. More important is how quickly and staff can be assembled. A coach that brings most of his staff with him means much more than a week.Assuming Fleck is Bobinski's first choice, and all the other details were worked out, I would hate to see us walk away because we had to wait a week to announce.
