Not sure if fleck was ever a legit candidate but he may be out now. Western michigan won today and will play in the MAC championship. Fleck has said that he wants to coach that game. Everything that I have heard says Purdue wants to make a quick hire.

He also wants a huge raise. One may be more important than the other.

Assuming Fleck is Bobinski's first choice, and all the other details were worked out, I would hate to see us walk away because we had to wait a week to announce.

With one more win, he could take wmu to a top tier bowl in four years.

How long would he be given/would it take at pu to do the same (even in BTwest)?

And at wmu, his starting point seemed better also - cubit left with an overall winning record, 3 bowl games, only 3 losing years, the worst was his last at 4 wins

I think both are possible - naming him tomorrow as Purdue's new coach AND Coaching out the season and WMU - if they see the wisdom of letting Fleck finish. In fact that happened with Haz.... at Kent State. Unlikely, but possible. It depends on his relationship with the AD and Prez of WMU.

Might seem like wisdom, but not having boots on the ground in West Lafayette, IN kills recruiting and picking up any players that are still on the fence or where other coaches get canned and players start de-committing. The chance to breathe new life in recruiting is lost. Like the candidate, but must be willing to start on 11/26, 11/27 or 11/28 latest.

I don't think it is Fleck. I do think Purdue wants some one all in Day one. Fleck will want to see the games through. Although if they throw enough money...

If it is Fleck he has already had boots on the ground in the state of Indiana. WMU has 2 recruits from the state. So he is at least familiar with some of the area.

They won't worry about a week. All this quick hire chatter is nonsense. More important is how quickly and staff can be assembled. A coach that brings most of his staff with him means much more than a week.

Rumor has it ASU job now may be open now after the drubbing AZ gave them last night. LSU out of mix for a coaching job now. Still think MILES is our man if the money is there.....But then again there could be someone we all haven't thought of.......You never know in Boiler Nation.....

Lol at people taking a coaches word. Interviews are almost meaningless with your top choices you basically are just making sure that person isn't psychotic. If you don't think teens haven't been talking to his agent and trying to figure out a price I have ocean front property to sell you in Kansas.

MB2 has to know that Fleck would get AT LEAST a late December game and prolly at Jan 1 game at about 2 weeks ago. Yet, in spite of that, out came the stories that "Its Fleck's job if he wants it." So, I assume that those stories would have to be so much smoke or the musings of sports writers with ZERO knowledge of the situation (kind of like ALL of us!)
