WHen I read this my blood boiled. I can't verify any of this, but it rings true.

I think back about that Madison Square Garden game and wonder if the refs were in on a "fix". Hell, I wonder about the most recent MSU game where the refs literally took our kids out of their game.

There's too much money on the line for some of the games not to be fixed.

I think Painter knew that game was fixed and was told to keep his mouth shut about it. There was simply no way Blake Griffin went to the free throw line that many times with one official making almost all the calls. You think Wes didn't already have Griffin in the Nike Camp?

It makes me want to not watch the NCAA's given that the outcome is manipulated. I certainly would advise against betting on these games given what seems to be the situation. I pretty much guessed that some schools were paying for Blue CHips under the table. I did not realise that referees were involved.

The NCAA needs to clean house before this becomes a real stink.

Bobby said years ago that it was easier to pay officials than to try and recruit kids to throw games. I suspect he knew then that games were being fixed. But this is approaching critical mass when a shoe company gofer is buying referees so his kids can win a NC.

Maybe Burke should create a new budget item for the "Referee Retirement and Dinking Fund". A few bucks in there, and we might win the next time we play in East Lansing, eh?

Instead of rehabbing Mackey, we should have bought a referee or two. Our record might be better.

Anyone who watches any amount of college basketball, especially tournament basketball, knows how fixed those games are. At the very least there is star favoritism. 16 vs 1 seeds? Give me a break. A 1 seed will never beat a 16 seed, not because they can't but because the games are almost always fixed against those teams. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA themselves fixed that shit.

Granted the vast majority of 16 seeds are absolutely terrible in comparison to the talent on those 1 seeds, they would lose almost every time. But all the 50/50 calls go against them, phantom fouls are called, fouls are never called on the top seed, or the game is made chippy on purpose so there's no flow to the game. It can get pretty ludicrous.

Most of the cheating goes well beyond the refs though. The dark money in college sports is really ugly. Whether or not anything was happening at MSU the other night, after watching the MSU game it makes me not want to watch basketball.

Re: Is there a story somewhere about this WTF?

I understand your statement but what brought up the subject???

Big Oh,
Did you follow the link? It will help yyou pull the conversation into context.

This is a scam article. I couldnt care less about Kentucky, and ageree Wes is a bag, but this article is a joke. It is a straight up Onion type of article. Even the Pasadena Post is fraudulent.

Re: Is there a story somewhere about this WTF? I did not see the link

It is creepy. Is this true or a bogus report per the above. I sure could agree that Mike Roberts is in somebody's pocket.

Google Pasadena Post. You get a list of post offices.

My dad was recruited by Rupp early on in his career and has always maintained it's very corrupt. Like knight, he's always been convinced there are refs on the take. He said Rupp was dirty from day 1.

Boilerdub.....I wouldn't say a #1 seed will never lose to a #16, Purdue almost did to Western Carolina - they took a 3 pointer which would have beaten us had he hit it. Kansas has escaped once or twice (although their margin was bigger than ours). But when I see lopsided officiating, I do wonder about legitimacy of that particular game. Especially when one team shoots 35 FTs and the other team 6.

The thought I have about this is if he can "fix" the ref's schedule then somebody at the NCAA office is in on it too.

This article may be a farce, but to believe that there isn't "fixing" going on at this level is just naïve.

Hey it beats the hell out of trading insults with some troll :) Furthermore, I do believe there's plenty of cheating going on and this WWW guy is for real. Or is he a joke too?
