He can't get to the Final Four. 8 seasons at Virginia now and can never win the game to get there. I think Virginia knows what he is at this point. Time to cut bait and go hire someone else or they will start to be known as The Settlers. You know. Like in the DirecTV commercial. Don't want to settle for consistently very good when there is great out there somewhere. After all, HIGH RISK EQUALS HIGH REWARD!!

Can't coach how to beat a press, which is easy, doesn't call a timeout, just lets Brogdon go make a play, which he didn't. No in-game adjustments when the other coach made several. Fails under pressure. Loses a 16 point lead in the last 9 minutes. Has far too many turnovers.

It's interesting that Bennett took the opposite approach against the press than Painter did against Little Rock. Rather than slowing it down, Bennett had the Cavs aggressively attack the press and it completely took Virginia out of their game, allowing Syracuse to erase UVa's lead in almost no time at all. It was a case of one team feeling all the pressure and the other just playing.

Fans cannot be happy. UP 14 at halftime against a 10 seed. Virginia has been in top 10 last few years. Lost to MSU twice in sweet 16. #1 seed this year and they made it to Elite 8. You can criticize Bennett all you want. But that's a solid program and he recruits Indiana kids. Has another top player from Indiana going there next year.

I'm not going to get into the fire this guy or that guy. I just found the stat interesting: Bennett is now 68-1 in games that his team had 10+ point lead at half time.

These fire Painter threads were on here to make the point that what happened to Purdue has happened to many programs. I don't care how often you lose in the tourney or under perform. The goal is to make the tournament. That's the goal. You can't win unless you are in the tournament. After 2013 & 2014 I was ready to fire Painter because he had the worst team in the Big 10 in 2013. Unacceptable and Painter got them back in 2015. I think the 2016 team was overrated. Yes it had talent but did not fit well together. Next year's team should be good. If they fail to make the tourney it will be very disappointing.

I know you really can't fire him now, but I would bet that this edition of UVA is his Baby Boilers. What you just saw will turn out to be the pinnacle of Bennett's tenure at Virginia. So in a way, they could justifying firing him now, but let's wait until UVA fizzles out over the years and just keep him on for year after year waiting for this also underachieving group to return.

This is what Tom Coverdale does. He has nothing of substance to say, so he makes up ludicrous posts about firing other coaches to make himself feel better about Painter and his defending him. Then he repeats the same thing over and over. Best to ignore really which I am starting now.
