A few final musings from Purdue's 92-67 win over Indiana State, because I know how you like musings.

• Purdue just has to do a better job defensively, something they have to grow into this season, I guess. They still were vulnerable to the dribble, and Indiana State had some success working Caleb Furst into switches and attacking him. That's a tough spot for him, and an area he'll get better, but right now you might see other teams go at the young guy, and that's the flip side of playing bigger at the 4. That is precisely the challenge Trey Kaufman-Renn was facing, as well, and part of the reason he's redshirting.

• Smart by Purdue using Sasha Stefanovic in offense as the screener for Jaden Ivey, then as the ball-screen indirect. Go ahead and double off Stefanovic at your own risk, opponents. I'd imagine.

Check out the play 48 seconds in here, with the continuous screen set up for Ivey by Edey and Stefanovic, then the bounce out by Stefanovic and the roll by Edey. My guess is you see a lot of this.

• I don't know if Zach Edey's gonna make the Big Ten All-Defense team this year or not, but he may have a chance.

He blocked three shots tonight, but he also beat Indiana State psychologically. They fumbled the ball around the basket a few times. Why do you think that was?

• I think Jaden Ivey is essentially going to be a third center this season in terms of his ability to draw fouls. He'll be right up there with Edey and Williams in that regard.

• I doubt Purdue wants Trevion Williams taking a bunch of threes this season but he sure looked good shooting both that shot and the mid-range jumper he nailed. Looking good at the foul line, too.

• Purdue finds out tomorrow what's up with Brian Waddell, who hurt his knee today. Obviously he's redshirting this season regardless, but you'd hate to see his development affected by a significant injury. Purdue thinks he's an impact player for them next season.

• Six guys for Purdue with three assists or more in the first game, five in the second.

Thanks, everybody, for reading and have a good, uh, morning.
