So there's a little bit of a football recruiting lull forthcoming, I think, so for the sake of manufacturing stuff, I thought we'd start a little series we take the HUDL videos of various Purdue targets and commitments and breakdown three things that stand out about them based off that video.

Today ...

SPEED/ACCELERATION
A lot of the highlight plays on here are straight vertical stuff and Purdue is obviously a program that wants to throw the ball up the field early and often. The raw speed seems like his biggest plus. But, you also see plays where he accelerates out of breaks really well or burst through openings, and that ability to generate speed can be as important as the speed itself, especially in an offense where there's going to be some underneath stuff and the receivers are used in the running game the way Purdue uses its receivers in the running game.

CONTESTED CATCHES
It's just a highlight film obviously, so you're only gonna see the good stuff, but there's a good number of plays made on there where Burks was closely covered or had to lay out, which speaks to concentration as well as not being deterred by physical play.

PHYSICAL PLAY
You don't recruit these slot-type receivers to beat people up, but it's ideal when they won't get beat up either, especially nowadays when linebackers or safeties or bigger corners may have to get a little grabby at times in space. What you with Burks there on his offensive and defensive clips is at the very least a player who's not going to shy away from contact.
