To kill some time while we wait until Rondale Moore's decision, let's play a game.

Pick one offensive player and one defensive player from the '18 class that you are most excited about and list why. You can add an honorable mention if only picking 2 is too difficult. Doesn't have to be who you think will be the best player either. It also isn't a knock on the other players, it's just a game and everybody has favorites that won't be the same.

Offense: I would go McKenna. I think he will be one of the best offensive lienmen in the country. I think he anchors this Purdue team for 4 years. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about an offensive lineman either. Purdue adds a lot of very talented offensive weapons, but this dude looks like he will be very very special.

Defense: it almost feels like I am cheating here by taking the highest raised defensive player, but I would take Jaylan Alexander. This dude is a great follow on twitter and seems to bleed gold and black already. He reminds me of Bentley and I think he will be a captain and a defensive leader sooner rather than later.

Honorable mention is Trice. He was barely a two star when he committed and now he is a pretty high 3 star. I remember watching his video and wondering how on Earth he was a 2 star. He will be a quiet leader and lead with his play. I think he makes an impact early if he doesn't redshirt and if he does, he could be a four year starter.

For this is who I'd choose
Offense: Amad Anderson
I think he will add a whole new level to the offense. If people have seen his highlights they would know why. The kid can get open and make outstanding catches and isn't afraid to jump over anyone. Wouldn't be supposed of Brohm puts him at KR/PR

Defense:
I'd also say Jaylan Alexander. Jaylan will replace Bentley and should do a decent job at it. He can defend the run well and has great speed and can also lay down some wood. And has good speed for a LB as he also played WR in highschool. Cory Trice is a close second for me because he's an absolute ball hawk. But Cory will need to hit the weights before hitting the field

Offense: Eric Miller is really starting to blow up physically. He's still skinny, however he moves so well and has long arms. He will be the left tackle after Hermanns.

Defense: I really like like Jordan Rucker. He's long and athletic, which this staff loves at corner.

Sleeper: Jack Sullivan, DE. He's likely a development player, however I think he's going to be a major contributor as he physically matures.

I think the staff got 3 offensive linemen that should start several season together. I hope Miller pans out, the staff seems very high on him.

I like the Rucker pick as well. Big physical CB that fills a huge need. Unlikely that he starts right away, but we will definitely see him year two.

I haven't seen much of Sullivan, but what I did see made him look more like a DT than a DE. If he can fill out and keep that DE speed, he could be very special. Just need him to keep getting stronger, but I like seeing others speak highly of him. I was a bit of a skeptic early and Inhope he proves me wrong. I want all these guys to be very successful!

I'm going with Taylor on offense. I was the first to promote hi m and say he'd commit. I love his height, and like going with the underdog as I know Anderson and Moore will receive more hype. And yes, I'm also the guy who thought Taylor could line up as a TE in a double TE set for that quick 8 yard pass.

And I'm going to go with Trice. Why? because I was the guy who said trice was the likely candidate to be dropped as a recruit. At the time, he was our lowest rated DB and we have a bunch. That must have really pissed him off, as all of a sudden - poof - he climbed to be one of our top rated Dbacks.

I definitely won't forget these two players.

Watch the senior season film of Sullivan on hudl. He looks way better than his junior film. Edgy Tim really likes him as well.

Hearing Brohm gush about Plummer, I'm anxious to see what he can do in a couple years when he gets his shot. My honorable mention on offense would be Amad Anderson.
On defense, I'll go with Trice. I think he'll be a beast in the secondary after some time in the weight room. Honorable mention on defense, Jack Cravaack.

Offense: Bonner. He's not as speedy as Moore, as big as Taylor, or enrolling early like Anderson but I think he'll be very good. Kind of guy that can you tough yards and be clutch on third downs. Reminds me of Greg Orton. Not the biggest receiver name in the class, but will have a solid career. His mom loves Purdue to boot

Defense: Torn between Johnson and Marks at DT. Johnson has the size now, but Marks appears to be a bit more explosive. In a perfect world they won't play for 2 years at least, but I think they can be a solid tandem. Johnson being a very good versus the run and Marks getting to the passer

I'll take two late comers, E. Anderson (RB) and Marks (DE/DT). Brohm and staff thought enough of these guys to take them after 3* Coates and 3* Parks left to make room. Anderson won't see much if any action in 2018, but he could be our lead back for 2-3 years after that. Marks is enrolling early and could provide some needed DL depth in 2018.

I was very excited about Bonner as well. He got injured or I think he would have been rated much higher. I was glad we signed him even with the potential of adding Moore.

Marks is interesting. He came on late and impressed Brohm enough to join up late in the process. Johnson is a big bodied guy as well. Easy to get excited about that kind of size.

As for Ahmad Anderson, I think he will be the favorite for a lot of people. Explosive offensive weapon with the ability to play DB if needed. He can also return. In the current class he has the highest ceiling. If we add Moore, I think he will take that title over just because he has NFL speed in a system that gets the most out of players like that.

E. Anderson is interesting as well. I didn't have much time to be excited about him because there wasn't much time between me hearing about him and him signing. We need a future back so it would be great if it was him. I really like Coates, so I hope Anderson makes the most of his opportunities.

Offense = Kory Taylor. It is time to have a tall athletic WR at 6'5" and has some speed. I'm also leaning to Payne Durham for being unrated and 6'6" at TE. Hope he has the skillset and proves Brohm correct in being a diamond in the rough.
Defense = Cory Trice. 6'3" DB. The bowl game was enough to know that in the second half, we needed a cover guy that could tip and knock down long passes. At his height, keep him there and develop him.
Another lean to guy for me is Jeff Marks due to unrated and hope he proves Brohm correct for finding talent! Was it Marks that Brohm hit the recruiting trail for and could not believe he didn't have any colleges interested?

thought Parks was a 2 star?

Brohm was recruiting somebody else and saw this kid. Snatched him up immediately. I really hope CJB hits the.... mark.... on this one!

Anderson - from the East Coast

Lane - could be the next Avril

I agree that he looks more like an inside player. I watched his senior film and I didn't see the bend I was looking for. He's got decent speed but I would bulk him up and put him inside.

Offense: Jack Plummer. Brohm gushes over him. Loved his film. First five throws are on the money dimes. Shows some mobility and good pocket presence.

Defense: Elijah Ball. Guy bleeds black&gold. Can see him coming in and pushing for playing time from Day 1. I see him as a corner. Really good eyes.

Honorable Mention: Kadin Smith. I feel like he is flying under the radar with all the Trice hype. Good vision, decent ball skills. Can really lay the wood and above average speed.

Goodness, folks . . .

Kory Taylor is going to leave an indelible mark on Purdue football before he leaves. This kid has every tool you would want.

For those who fondly remember John Standeford, this is John Standeford on steroids. (yes, I've used that phrase earlier!)

The secret is, can he "connect" with the starting QB. If so, he's going to break all KINDS of Purdue receiving records.

Write it down.

Taylor should be a monster in this system. I could see him being a favorite. There is no right or wrong answer.

Also, per the game, who you like on defense?

How about comparing him to Chris Daniels on the 20-catch day?
Or, better yet, Dustin Keller type?

Can't wait, Boiler Up!!

I'm going with the guys who will be my favorites to watch rather than who I believe will be our best players

Likely true, but speed is not the only thing for the receivers.

Watching Daniels catching Drew's passes were something else.
If he has what it takes to succeed in Purdue's high octane offense,
I am all for him!

Offense - Plummer

Defense - trice. I can see a switch to LB. when’s the last time we had a safety that big?

I like this question because it made me familiarize myself with the incoming class.

I could definitely see an eventual switch to LB. Brohm did say that's what a safety is supposed to look like. However, TJ McCollum started at safety and became 240lbs. Note: McCollum began career at UAB.

Brohm and holt want big safeties.

This board would have wanted Harrison smith moved to lb when he enrolled.

I might have him confused with someone else, but I believe Daniels was coming in to be a long snapper, then made an impression at WR.

Chris Daniels frequently made his catches by being the 3rd or 4th option, usually underneath. Brees simply looked for him and found the easy catch to move the chains. It had nothing to do with Daniels' speed, agility, or ability, but simply the connection the two of them made. They worked VERY well together.

I'll never forget that day vs MSU. It seemed like Brees found him on every snap.

O: Jimmy McKenna - hopefully will live up to the hype and be a really solid OL guy.

D: Lawrence Johnson - big guy who may a have a shot to play early

O: Rondale Moore - Going to be interesting to see what type of stuff Brohm draws up to get the ball in his hands. He could potentially be a guy where Brohm needs to get the ball in his hands a minimum of 8-10 times a game...he's that type of player.

D: Lawrence Johnson - Kid could end up being similar to some of the very good DT's that Purdue has had in recent years. Watching his film he reminds me a lot of KK Short (although probably not as overly athletic as KK was). Needs work on his initial first step BUT could provide some depth in his freshman year and develop in to a very good anchor for Holt's defense to let the LB's run free and make plays all over the field and in the backfield.

I believe Greg Orton is under appreciated in the Boiler WR ranks. I would take another one in a heart beat.
