Been reviewing some of the clips from the games and I have to say I am excited for next year as well.

Not just about the Junior class being seniors, but the development of Clines all around game, Boogie is going to be a star (that's obvious), but more about the guys on the bench and the enthusiasm I see that will translate well to the court.

Taylor, you know how I feel about this young man and his potential...he is so ready to put it on the floor and I can't wait to see it.

Haarms, I have to say when I watch him practice and his passion off the bench for being a newcomer to the team, he truly excites me to his potential and the roles he can fill when on the floor. Great face up game, jump shot and his length is amazing....if he adds more weight and muscle...he could be very special.....can't wait to see opposing team look up at Haas and Haarms.....wow!

Then the new guys coming in:

Eastern- Just plain old stud that combined with Boogie.....wow we will have one of the best guard combo's in the country...may be 2 years from now when Boogie is a junior and Eastern a sophomore but wow they are going to be tough.

Sasha- He may red-shirt but he will fill in nicely for Dakota and compliment Cline his senior year as a deadeye shooter and reliable defender.....Love "The Region" kids.

Wheeler: This young man is the perfect replacement for Vince Edwards when Vince graduates....long, can shoot , can rebound, can drive and dunk....oozing potential and super high ceiling. May be his sophomore year before he takes off, but will be a starter the rest of the way.

Ewing: I have to say I am super excited this young man is coming to Purdue for his next 2/3 years. He is a proven athlete that can score, rebound and do whatever you ask of him to do. I think many fans will be excited to see him play next year as he will be a glue guy that comes in and gives energy, leadership and compliments the junior class very well.

Next year Ewing, Taylor and Haarms I feel will have the biggest influence to compliment the returning players...

Reading your analysis sort of backs up the thought that those coming in will essentially be the 'second string' coming off the bench. I am highly interested in the early games in the season next year to see them get a chance to play together a bit as a large group (adding in Boogie and Haarms/Taylor).

Having a guy like Eastern really makes the flexibility of Purdue's roster next season intriguing. You could easily put on the floor next season....Eastern (6'7), Edwards (6'8), Wheeler (6'8), Dakota (6'6), and Carsen (6'0) if a team does go to a small lineup. The issue with the team this season is that if Purdue had to go small, they simply can't complete athletically at all. The lineup proposed would place 4 of Purdue's best athletically gifted players on the floor at the same time but not giving up skill either as Vince and Dakota are immensely skilled. It also places 2 seniors on the floor and Carsen with a year of experience while also playing two freshman.

Key for Painter going forward next year is that Painter better find 3-4 guys to take over for next year's seniors. A WHOLE lot will be riding on this class of newcomers as sophomores

Next season 2017-18 belongs to the 4 seniors

The year after that 2018-19 will be a transition year where I will be happy if we just make it to the NCAA tournament

Carsen's upperclassman years 2019-2021will see us back challenging for BIG titles and deep runs in March

If Taylor gets his 6th year, and Ewing redshirts (not impossible if we already have Haarms and Taylor to back Haas up), then Carsen's senior year would field a seasoned and flexible lineup that resembles this year's Michigan

Carsen Sr 6'0
Eastern Jr 6'6
Wheeler Jr 6'9
Haarms Jr 7'2
Taylor Sr 6'10

Reserves - Sasha 6'5 RSo, Ewing Sr

This is not even factoring the 2019 recruits, which would be the wildcard if they can be good enough to unseat as starters, guys like upperclassmen Wheeler and Taylor

Michigan has two pros in Wilson & Wagner and the best PG in the B1G who might be a pro too. Add the experience of Irvin. We would be extremely fortunate if the team you described resembles MICH.....as that makes Eastern the best PG in the league and 2 of Wheeler Haarms or Taylor = Pros)

(Hope we make the Tourney in 18-19....the precedence has already been set @ iu if you do well, and then the next year, fall out of the tourney - you are gone.) :)

I never imagined the Three Pete Boilers would win the league after Big Dog left. There is certainly something to be said about having the experience of playing with a player like Biggie and Glenn that seems to rub off on the team. Having so many upperclassmen who basically turned our program around can't be a bad sign either.
