as an asst coach and DL coach. For a program that was in disarray this year, they got a good recruiting class including a 5 star.

But we have personal that they will never have. A coach that's not worth a shit, a AD that doesn`t have a set and hides in his office and a recruiting class that compares to teams in the Ohio Valley conference. Now things are looking up!!!!

We dont need a retread or a name. We need someone that is accustomed to operating with lesser talent and knows how to operate from a position of disadvantage. Guys that meet that criteria are going to come from the lower levels.

With this logic and the size of our disadvantage, maybe we should be scouring the pee-wee flag football leagues for a coach.

Tell me where my logic is incorrect. Going to tried an true route hasnt worked for purdue in football. Colletto? Fail. Akers? Fail. Hazell? Fail.

Who was Tiller's big name coordinator?

I didnt mean to imply you were incorrect. I agree with you. We all can see that traditional tressel-ball type doesnt work. I was just trying to be funny.

I don't know how you can compare us to the Terps. They had a terrible year, but they got rid of a coach who I believe is actually worse than DH. Maryland has a lot of advantages we don't, including being the main school in a talent loaded state.

it's a talent loaded state, except psu usually grabs the best from that state. Hey Nat, I pointed out London not to imply we get a name guy or a retread but I was stating on how some ex HC's would consider a lesser job because that has been debated on here from time to time.

MD is doing a great job with their staff. I would expect them to be a power if they keep that staff for a few years. MD does have a lot of talent but PSU does not grab the best players. Players go to every big name in the country. A few years ago we had two players from the same school, one 5 star and one 4 star both go to USC. But a lot of players grow up wanting to play for MD, so they will always get some good local talent.

This is why when people discuss head coach candidates, I really don't mind an experienced assistant. Maryland's coach has a lot of respect within the coaching community and a lot of connections. You don't get the quality assistants unless you're at a strong program or have a coach with a lot of respect.

A head football coach is the face of the program, but the assistants matter a ton in terms of those are the guys working with the players. And they don't mind making a little less if it means working with people they want to work for/with.
