Everyone is hyped on Kansas

All of the broadcasters are saying Kansas is the best team remaining in the tourney, due to their large victories in the first two rounds. It seems that everyone forgets that MSU was a depleted 19-14 team heading into the tourney, and not the traditional Izzo team we are used to seeing. And UC Davis? 23-12 in the big west. Please.

Kansas beating MSU by 20 is not impressive. Not impressive at all. I was amazed MSU even hung in as long as they did. Kansas is a great team for other reasons, but certainly not for their tourney performances thus far. Purdue will be the first real test Kansas will face in the tourney, anything can happen!

Kansas is hyped for good reason. They are a scoring machine and I'd rather play anyone else other than maybe UCLA. I was so rooting for MSU as we've beaten them twice. We just never seem to catch a break deep into the tournament. Lets just hope / pray (believe me I'm praying hard) / root them on to get to the next level. This is the chance we've all been waiting for, take down a Top Tier team on the national stage. Me personally, its been a 25 year wait for a Final 4. If we can somehow get beyond Kansas, we'll get there. Go Purdue...

All this hyping could hurt Kansas. A large bulls-eye is being put on their back. They will be the hunted, not the hunter.

Kansas has some elite talent, but their offense to me isn't very well designed and appears to rely on guys just running into somebody to try to draw a foul or collapse the defense and kicking out to an open teammate. There isn't a lot of intricate plays, more just overwhelming physical talent.

I think if you can slow the pace down and play efficient offense, you can keep it a game. They actually don't blow many people out, despite what they did to MSU. They have 5 wins in 2017 by > 11 points, 2 of which were their NCAA tourney games. They are often in rather close games.

Very talented team, but I suspect it will be within 5 or 10 points either way in the last 4 minutes. The question is which team can make the plays to close it out.

Exactly what I was trying to say earlier. They have played a lot of close games and have even trailed big to make a comeback at the end for some of them. Mason is the Big 12's version of Trimble/Yogi always playing with an arm bar to protect his drives and shots and the one to initiate the contact while throwing his head back. He's a great player but gets the benefit of the refs a majority of the time. I think it was Ward he literally punched in the face on a fast break layup where Ward didn't even jump to block the shot because he was surprised. Now were Haas to hit somebody in the face like that even on accident he would possibly be looking at a Flagrant 2 and ejection.

I believe this is Biggies personality every minute on the court. He is the hardest worker I've seen in a long time, and has the killer instinct of a lion.

It's going to be a good game.

I hope we bring our best game come Thursday, If we do it could be an exciting game for sure. That Jackson dude is pretty good. I hope we can shut him down!

I'm just glad the NCAA is still playing the games on the court rather than in the minds of the media doofuses.

Kansas is very good. In our last game, the three bigs scored 55 of our 80 points. We missed several open looks and shot below our average from 3. That was as close to a perfect game as I've seen this team play. If they can repeat it and hit the open shots, we will be very tough to beat.

I saw something on twitter, (sorry, I can't remember who it was) but it said "For the transitive property crowd, Purdue is 3-0 against teams who beat Kansas this year." (1-0 vs Iowa State, 2-0 vs Indiana)

Hmm, let's see.

First round, Vermont has the longest win streak in the nation. Many prognosticators were picking them over us.

Second round, ISU is one of the hottest teams in the nation and just won the Big 12 tourney knocking off Kansas. Most of the prognosticators were picking ISU.

I think I see a trend, let's hope the results continue.

Jay Williams (despite being ESPN and a Duke guy) is the one somewhat high-profile "expert"I've seen who has been high on Purdue's chances for a while now. I don't know if he's changed his tune this week, though.

I agree that beating MSU by 20 is nothing to write home about. All season long it was like the experts looked at their team, could see that they sucked, and then just thought "Well Izzo will get this turned around for March" and kept overrating their capabilities. They simply weren't very good at all.

That said, KU is probably the best team left in my estimation. I do not think they are any sort of juggernaut however and if we play well we can beat them. Going to be tough to contain those guards/wings they have. Edwards & Edwards are both going to have to play well on both ends of the court. Swanigan is going to have to have his normal great game as well.

Key to this game will be tempo. We must keep them out of transition basketball. Therefore, we need to limit turnovers, be efficient on the offensive end, and rebound.

Kansas did beat Nebraska though.

I think Purdue needs to make its own breaks.

Wisconsin got a horrible seed, yet created it's own favorable path by knocking off Nova.

Same goes for Michigan - had to face a really tough Louisville team in the 2nd round, yet they got it done.

Time for Purdue to get it done.

Indiana beat Kansas. Indiana is hot garbage, got swept by Purdue, did not qualify for the NCAA tournament, and currently has no head coach.

Accordingly, Purdue will beat Kansas by 40-50 points.

I think Biggie comes out with a chip on his should going up against the only other real competition (save maybe Ball) for NPOY. He is going to want to beat them more than anyone else he's played this year. I think Purdue has a great shot... no pressure, play loose and go for the kill.

My bad, had not read this thread when I wrote "For those Questioning Purdue in Kansas Game".... oooops!!! It definitely belongs here...lol!
