Agreed. I was not a fan of Mitch at all as Gov and really questioned his and the BOT's intent when coming to Purdue as the President (frankly I thought he figured it was his only shot to have a president title in front of his name)...yet I find myself agreeing with a lot of the things he is doing at Purdue to ensure Purdue stays solvent with its budget while also finding ways to continue pushing innovation and excellence. I honestly think coming to Purdue has shown him a lot of his previous ideas simply weren't doable when he actually put his boots on the ground and he is able to use his background as an individual who works to 'tighten the books' along with not doing things that inevitably hurt the integrity of the individuals that are leading the classrooms.
