Eugene Parker - RIP

With sadness, Eugene passed away at age 60, unexpectedly.

Brings things into perspective.

Yes, indeed, Mathboy.

I didn't know he was battling kidney cancer, apparently. RIP, Eugene Parker....prayers to his family.....

Longtime NFL agent Eugene Parker has passed away at the age of 60.

Parker represented many athletes throughout his time as an agent. Some of his clients included Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith, Pittsburgh Steelers great Hines Ward, Hall of Famer Rod Woodson, Pro Bowl wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Pro Bowl defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, and many more.

Parker began his career in sports after he was selected in the NBA Draft by the Spurs out of Purdue University. Shortly after, Parker went to law school to eventually became an agent.

A part of Relativity Sports, Parker was well-respected in the NFL. In 2011, Parker presented Deion Sanders, his client, as a member of the Hall of Fame. He was one of only four sports agents to present a player into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Oh damn, RIP Eugene ... when someone younger than I passes ... it DOES put things in perspective. A great representative of Purdue.

One of the best agents ever. Also represented stars Sammy Watkins, JPP, and Alshon Jefferey. As well as legend Deion Sanders.

RIP Eugene, was at Purdue the same time as Eugene, what so sad is kidney cancer is very curable. I have 2 friends who had it w/ one noticing blood in his urine. There was a tumor on one kidney and the Dr. removed the kidney because he said any tumor on a kidney is 98% malignant. The other friend had his one removed and both guys are currently fine.( 60 yrs. old like me.)

That's sad and I have an idea of how that is because I'm (no joke) battling cancer right now as well. Maybe he waited too long to go get it checked out and that's what hindered his fight against it. (That's kind of what happened with me because I didn't know what I had but I am fighting it now.) I didn't see him as a player but I know he's from my hometown and that he was an agent for a long time. RIP Eugene Parker

what I just emailed some family from a 1999 Indiana Hall of Fame Inductee night where Eugene was a presenter of guest speaker when my brother-in-law was inducted..

He was a freshman my last year at Purdue. The night of the induction I smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up and he smiled back and nodded knowing I was a Boiler and together we would get through the three Indiana University inductees that night. Everything I ever read concerning him spoke not only of his highly successful business, but of the type of man he was. The first two tweets are from Caleb Swanigan. Rosie or Rose as mentioned below by Caleb is the adoptive father of Caleb and a long-time partner with Eugene Parker. Tweets from Deion Sanders and Emmitt Smith below as well...

Way too young...

Rest in peace Eugene........ that is so sad I remember him as a player and I try to emulate him he used to shoot his jumper with his hands starting behind his head and I thought that was cool so I tried it of course I was not quite as successful as Eugene one of my favorites Godspeed

RIP Eugene. On a personal note I am a big Purdue fan and my high school bball coach in the mid 1970s was a knight/IU man. He called me Eugene and it stuck. I am 55!now and some of my old HS friends still call me Eugene.

Eugene Parker was my coach at the PU basketball camp in the summer of '78, right after he finished career. Even though I was only 12, I knew how lucky I was because most of the teams were being coached by local high school kids while mine was being coached by someone I'd watched for 4 yrs on TV!!! On day 1 or 2 of the camp and after a game, he came over, started showing me how to improve my crossover. I never have forgotten the special attention he showed me that day. He didn't have to do it, but he did. RIP, Coach.

I hope he can find some kind of cure, even if it takes a miracle.

Remember Eugene his freshman year playing at the corec, he'd cross the 10 sec line and let it fly, most times it was nothing but net, believe it was Michael White (?) who was usually with him.
He seemed like a quiet individual as I remember.
I am a survivor of kidney cancer, was lucky I started passing blood when the tumor broke through the kidney. Had it removed (2002) and 5 years later was declared cancer free. I was 1 of the lucky ones, I got an early warning.
