Based on the weather forecast, point spread, and other factors...what is your estimated attendance for tomorrow?

Part 2: What will the breakdown be of Purdue fans vs Wiscy fans?

I will reluctantly be there. Not sure how long I will be there. Right now I would even take a competitive half over a blowout from the beginning.

I'll be there, 26th straight year. Hopefully we can get a good crowd for the seniors but with the weather I know i it probably won't happen.

I am hoping for no injuries.

Wisconsin will travel well. I say 35,000 paid, students won't show. With bad weather, 30,000 there, 14,000 Purdue fans

Weather nastier than I thought. If it is as bad in WL might be worst home weather in a long time.
I'm not even going to watch it on TV, may be a first, going to the 152nd meeting of Lehigh - Lafayette. Cubs manager Joe Maddon is a Lafayette alum and is in town this weekend for the game. Also it's going to be 68 and sunny today then a cold front coming in tonight.

there might have been 30k tickets sold but it sure didnt seem to me like that many were there in the cold with me. i sit on the 45 and almost no one came around us. a few students came but the closed end was mostly empty cept for a few whisky fans. left after shout so i didnt get myself more upset over a team that just does not have any talent or coaches

Kudos for braving the elements and attending the game....yeah, that's the paid attendance, and it seemed like less on the broadcast. I thought there would be more Wisconsin fans, but it didn't sound like it. Game went like most expected I guess.

No way that there was more than 15,000 in actual attendance at the game...and no way Wisconsin had more than 3,000, and even that is generous.

I am hard pressed to believe that there was even 30,000 paid...as that number is inflated, as I don't know that there was a game this year where they had more than 20,000 in the stands, and I just can't believe that 10,000 people bought tickets and just do not go each week.

I hear you DG. I took that number from the on-line box score....two different ones, so I'm guessing that's the reported paid attendance. From the TV broadcast, it sounded like a small, relatively unenthusiastic crowd.....trying to be objective there if that's possible.

No more than 15,000 people at Ross-Ade Stadium for a game against a top-ranked team.

Rather than commissioning a portrait of Morgan Burke, the university should just slap a panoramic photograph of Ross-Ade from Saturday in its place.

I liked the post only because I could not love it!

Oh, I know that you did and was not trying to insinuate anything else.

My point was that I can't even believe that there were 30,000 sold...I am 100% certain that there were not close to 30,000 there (as stated, I would be stunned if it were even half that (and I admittedly do not know what the press box holds)).

Season ticket sales were below 20,000...so for all of the games for which the attendance was listed/announced at 30,000+, that means that allegedly 10,000 tickets were bought from the ticket office in some form or fashion, and that not only makes no sense logically, but it makes less sense that 10,000 people bought them and between them and those with season tickets that 10,000 of them somewhere just did not happen to show up.

At what point in the game was the pic taken?
Not that it really matters, as the mere fact that it was taken during the game speaks volumes...but, the picture had to have been from a point during the 4h quarter...that said, it could have been taken at any point and it would not have been a whole lot different.

It wasn't taken at the game. There has been the motion 'P' at the 50 all season long. There were more in the stands than that rain drenched photo from another season shows, but it was still a sparse crowd.

maybe that was Wisconsin's previous visit? Ok....in full interest of being accurate, I found this:

at about 20:28 is a good 1st Q shot.....about 45:18 and 45:30 is a good 2nd Q shot....roughly 1:50:00 is a late game shot.

Sparse I suppose is the best adjective.

that pic looks like penn state a few years ago in the rain. not many stayed for the end

It was actually a Wisconsin game I am pretty certain...Montee Ball senior year, as he lit Purdue up...lousy weather and not much of a crowd to begin with, but by the time it was over (and earlier for that matter...as I remember hearing Pete Quinn take fans to task for not sticking it out), the place was almost empty outside of the UW fans that had made their way over for the game.

An interesting tidbit from the game telecast.....last Purdue QB to beat Wisconsin @ home?

Billy Dicken '97
Pretty sure that was a Homecoming game...and I recall Dicken running a read-option and keeping it early in the game and going for about a 60-yard run up the middle.

I remember way more losses than wins against the Badgers in recent history...but I remember that win, a huge and exciting one in Madison the year of the Rose Bowl, and another in Madison on a Ben Jones FG when Game Day was there.

Same here DG about the losses. The last win I remember in Madison was the one in OT when the Boilers returned a blocked FG for the winning score.....2000 maybe? (this might be the one you're referencing) I wonder if any other team has won in OT on a blocked kick.

That was indeed the one, and had to be the year I am pretty sure as well...it was my first trip to Madison and I had gone with my Dad...had got tickets from one of the players, and beside the win (and maybe even despite the win), THE highlight of the day was sitting with the future Brittany Brees for the game!

Ashante Woodyard returned the blocked long FG attempt in OT, and it was returned directly in front of us...there was a long Brees to Morales TD pass in that one as well...Purdue won with Orton there a few years after on a Ben Jones FG that I had mentioned also, but those are about the only two wins over there that I can recall off the top of my head.

DG, those are the last two W's at and against Wisconsin, currently it's an 11 game losing streak after Saturday....ouch. Before that, have to go back to '88 and then into the Jim Young years (there was a tie in '94).
