They have us beating northwestern and Indiana and getting to 6-6 by being 50.5-49.5 against…

wisconsin

interesting

also interesting that If we don’t get to 6-6 we will look back and realize yesterday WAS our chance at a bowl game

Seeing just how bad teams are this year, it is sad that Purdue is not better at this point than it is 5 years in with Brohm, as, even just a decent team could compete for the division and would have no problem being bowl eligible.

Yesterday will indeed haunt them if/when they don't get to 6-6, but, a legitimately decent team would be looking at 8 wins this year and not worrying about trying to find a way to 6 somehow.

There are some games left for Purdue to win, but, not one of them that would be deemed automatic, never mind 3 of them.

If we have our red zone offense figured out, we can beat anyone. We have been able to move the ball at will (especially with Aiden) and our defense has been fantastic.

Not really a hard thing to figure out.

This type of season is what happens when teams have talent, but not enough to sustain them all year during the grind of a B1G season.

Brohm continues to build depth. As he does, we'll eliminate more and more of those head-scratching losses.

Yesterday was an emotional win; 2 weeks to prepare; Iowa coming off their own emotional win.

With that said, virtually every team has games/moments like this. (Alabama says "HELLO!")

The question for the rest of the season is, "Is Purdue the team that squeaked by Illinois at home or the one that pounded Iowa on the road?" Always an enigma
Both. That’s why I think they will be 7-5 but if they absolutely catch fire 9-3 is possible. What was the last team to absolutely catch fire above and beyond their actual value? 97?

Probably the best assessment of the team that I have seen.

To absolutely catch fire, it was the 2003 and 2000 teams.

In 2000, after falling behind 28-10, Purdue rallied to beat #6 Michigan, then won at #17 @NW, @Wisconsin and vs #13 OSU in consecutive weeks

In 2003, Purdue won 6 of 7 after losing to Bowling Green to start the season (only other losses were @#13 Michigan and @#OSU in OT in the regular season).

Above and beyond their value.. those teams were just as good as their record.. this team would need some ridiculous bounces to be that good

IMO, the Michigan State game is setting up to be very interesting game for Purdue. MSU has a bye week and are completely focused on hosting Michigan in two weeks. After an emotional game with their rival, MSU travels to Purdue. Win or lose, MSU will be a highly ranked team, and after an emotional game with Michigan, MSU has to travel to WL.

I consider it a coin flip game atm, but Purdue should be able exploit their offensive line issues and also score some points against a more average defense compared to Iowa, Wisconsin, and even Nebraska. Also, MSU will be dealing with coaching rumor distractions and speculations with LSU.

Seems to setup nicely for Purdue to take advantage, even after a tough stretch in the schedule. With the staff's success in recruiting in the state of Michigan, this will be a big game and might get a primetime TV spot depending on how the next two weeks go.

We played the first one with a quarterback afraid to throw it downfield. The second game we had a quarterback that would... and looked great doing it. Defense was good in both games but we cannot win without our passing offense. National media does not consider stuff like that. We will be underestimated until we get another big win. Have to keep O'Connell healthy to have a chance at a successful season...

I love our chances against MSU....I watched the IU game....IU defense totally shut them down...it was losey QB play that gave MSU the victory!!! The Neb game will be interesting.....which Frost team shows up.....but all bets are off until I see a victory against Wisky!! Guarantee you MSU loses 3 games this season!
