ESPN being ESPN, never hesitant to put down the Big Ten

The title of the post is a bit dramatic, but if you actually read the blog post, what would you argue with? Let's also be quick to point out this is one writer making a blog post - not all of ESPN.

He points out that there's 2 good teams and after that - outside of a decent-looking Ohio State/Michigan, not much. He points out that it's usually a ultra-competitive league - it's not this year. He points out there's a lot of situations happening that is bringing down the play - like Minnesota's scandals and Northwestern's injuries adding to an already disappointing season. Then you have what are traditionally pretty good programs having bad years - like Wisconsin having its worst season in quite some time. You have IU looking bad. Iowa has been a regular tournament team lately and is looking bad. Maryland has been in the tournament - they could make it, but certainly are not good.

To argue that the Big Ten is NOT down is silly. The title of the article may be a bit much, but it's overall not exactly wrong.

I agree that Big 10 is boring due to a down season, but I don't agree that ohio state win made it more boring.

the B1G is always down when purdue is gonna win it. Haven't you guys noticed this over the years? haha...oh man I'm turning into a cynic.

The headline was really inaccurate and uncalled for - total BS. Come tournament time, I think we will see a lot of pretenders from other conferences and I think the Big Ten will surprise a lot of the so called experts with how well we do as a conference. I do hate the scheduling of the Big Ten games; when you have the projected #1 and #2 teams in the conference and they only play each other once and on top of that the one game you do have and its not until nearly mid-February! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

MSU and Purdue are a heck of a 1/2 punch, but the overall conference is massively down compared to recent seasons. Instead of 10 teams fighting for an NCAA berth, we will have like maybe 5 or 6 possible and likely anywhere from 3-5 teams that actually make it.

If only IU had the same record as PU at this point, would that change your mind?
