ESPN Announcers say Brohm too good for Purdue

ha heard that too.
hope he's wrong,
otherwise we may be closer to plan F and G than we'd like

This is what happens when you cheap out for years. You get a bad reputation as a program and then when you decide you do want to achieve something, you have to pay a lot extra just to get someone decent to even consider you.

Tom Luginbill is an idiot. So, Brohm is "too good" for Purdue so he will turn down way more money than what he's making now and a chance to coach in the Big Ten? I doubt that. What other job is waiting for him anyway? Baylor and Oregon don't even have him on a sort list. Luginturd also said that Purdue doesn't have the resources. I guess no one told him about the new facility.

They said Brohm will have better options than Purdue next year so he should hold out. To be fair, that's not too far from the truth

Supply is greater than demand. Yes the program has hit rock bottom and yes the administration has put focus on football facilities upgrades but that is changing.

New AD, significant financial commitment to facilities upgrades and willingness to step up efforts to pay for a top notch in a power 5 conference makes the Purdue job attractive to good non power 5 coaches.
Who cares what some idiot from ESPN thinks? This regime and Purdue administration can't do anything about the past it's time to focus on the future and what lies ahead. Purdue will come out of this with a solid hire or coach

This is right. He did not indicate that he should stay at WKU but seemed to indicate that there were better opportunities for him. I'm not sure where. I was at a couple of high school games last weekend that had more people in the stands than this championship. But there's no doubt that there is a strong perception that we are a lousy coaching destination. And I did agree with him that winning immediately at Purdue is going to be very difficult. We have really dug ourselves into a deep hole.

Did I just hear Luginturd say Purdue should hire Navy's coach because we have the personnel for that offense? This guy really is delusional!!

He's pretty much the worst announcer and commentator on ESPN. He's also completely anti-B1G.

ESPN doesn't want any good coaches going anywhere but the SEC. That's why they do things like run the ticker 100,000 time saying Herman is going to LSU, when anyone that was truly following the story knew he was going to go to Texas.

I have many Louisville friends and they have all been telling me Brohm is heading our way. Local talk radio has been discussing, local media, etc etc. I guess I didn't realize his brother Brian is a coordinator too, which will be nice to get both (if he comes).

Just bc Brohm "doesn't have an agent" doesn't mean he doesn't have someone, close friend or relative, who is speaking to schools for him. He has a huge support network here since he's almost the #1 hometown hero, and in the general area, and from what I've been told there are people "working" for him on the DL.

Wow has the program and reputation took a huge slide. It seems more candidates may turn down the opportunity to interview than I thought. Disappointment headed to West Lafayette on Monday or Tuesday.

Right coach gets in here and can clean up the INDY market.or at least put a big dent in it........A lot of really good programs! F*&* the ESPN announcers!!!

31-24 ......still nine minutes to go in 2nd qtr!!!! WOW!!!!!! love both OFF..... Hopefully whoever we get of these two in running, Leave their D- CORD at home.........

Once this is over one way or the other Purdue needs to have a chat with ESPN to make sure this announcer and his opinions should not be allowed to call a game at Purdue.

It is one thing to say Brohm should stay at EKU but if he called out or mentioned Purdue by name he crossed the line!

ESPN said same about Fleck.
Only so many power 5 spots open up. If we can't get one of Brohm, Calhoun, or Fleck, things WILL feel pretty desperate.

If they can't get one of them, it is past desperate...for the same reason that those guys want to wait a year to see if something better is available, Purdue would be equally wise to do the same opposed to botching yet another hire...as they simply can't afford that (literally, and figuratively).

One more time: You are naive if you believe the mouthings of the news media or the "experts" on this forum. Purdue is Big Ten, the Western Div is a much easier row to hoe than the East, and we have far more tradition than Indiana, Illinois, Northwestern or Iowa. Take a look at Iowa's record before Hayden Fry got there. Purdue beat them twenty consecutive years.

It is a P5, state school job with a big raise. ESPN commentator is entitled to his opinion, how ever stupid it may be.

Did I just hear Luginturd say Purdue should hire Navy's coach because we have the personnel for that offense? This guy really is delusional!!
He said that the triple option would work great at Purdue! Said that kind of offense could work in the Big Ten. Smh

I guess I should have recorded the game. I thought he worded it a bit differently.

Resources?? Of course we have "the resources". B1G schools cut up more TV money than any other conference, including the SEC. And our new contract is bigger than the last. That's just BS dishonesty right there.

Purdue just hasn't used those resources to improve our athletics like other schools have. Our admins have dropped the ball big-time over the past several years. Now we have a new focus and new attitude (hopefully). Resources...lol. Purdue is a gottdamm gold mine.

And I read the Athletic Department now gets to keep all it's Big money and not hand a portion over to the school.

With the right coach, it could be a quicker turnaround than many realize.
