End of Season Thoughts

Just wanted to start off by saying I've really enjoyed this Purdue team, coaching staff, & fan support this year. We won the Big Ten outright by two games and we had a good run in the tournament. We just ran into a team that is peaking at the right time and has several exceptionally talented players who are NBA quality (I think Josh Jackson is the #1 pick). Our players are very good, but very likely not NBA players (Caleb is the exception).

I hope Painter considers mixing in some zone defensive schemes into our teams going forward. We were outmatched athletically last night and we had no shot at containing their guards and Josh Jackson. We practically had to double team someone each possession. I think it could have helped stopped the bleeding if we went zone for a couple possessions here and there. I think it would have kept them guessing and slowed them down just a little bit. Kansas went zone on us in the second half and you could see us take awhile to adjust.

Unfortunately luck has not been on Purdue's side our last three sweet sixteen appearances. We've run into a #1 seed every time who played great against us.

Right on the money with these thoughts. Great season.

I know my thoughts aren't new thread worthy and this was a perfect preface for my own thoughts.

I would rather have our players 100/100 games than any other University that has any lower standards of academics and moral character.

I'm proud of the STUDENT athletes that our program produces and no banner, cup, or trophy can ever mean as much as the true integrity of people all of our programs have.

Those that would rather have the trophy have some serious internal crud and I wish them they find their internal happiness, but character will always trump material trophies.
