AJ in the 30 range while both Vince and CS are in the 90's. 90's would push both of them into the 3rd round correct? Logic would be that they both would reasonably come back for one more year.

I believe there are only two rounds in the NBA Draft...so I hope Biggie thinks hard about this. Edwards will be back for sure.

For goodness sakes VE, is no where close to a NBA player. Two more years he may get a sniff of first two rounds. Everybody involved needs to take a reality pill.

The highest projection I've seen for CS is in the 60's, the lowest is around 100. Either way he wouldn't be drafted (only 60 positions in the draft). Vince is project well outside of the top 60 as well.

I could see Biggie moving into a 2nd rounder with a solid combine. The question is would he want money now or does he want to wait a year to make even more?

Anyone know what kind of money does a late selection in the 2nd round get and is it guaranteed as the first round is!

second round picks do not get guaranteed money (unless a GM wants to which is unusual). only first round has mandatory guaranteed contracts

I'd rather have bad than rigged.
I would as well. But I don't know which games are rigged at either level. Tim Donaghy was a black eye for the NBA, but he was one individual who was caught and has been banned from the league. What we don't know is how many individuals have been doing the same thing on the college level for years and haven't been caught. From what I understand, the NBA has greater oversight and controls than the NCAA.

I really am not nearly a big NBA fan as a college basketball fan, but the endless complaining about it is ridiculous. I get it. You don't watch and you don't like it.

Thanks, just found the other information that many of the 2nd rounders toward the end sign for the NBA minimum which is before taxes around 525,000 for 2016. After taxes you would get around 285,000 then your agent fee's at the low end is 4% so knock off another 20,000 and you have ball park, $250,000 for your first year IF you make it through the first year or stops as soon as they cut you!

I don't like the NBA.

That's always been my understanding that 2nd round money isn't guaranteed. If you don't make the roster then you are trying to find a job in Europe or their low-paying NBA minor league.

any freshman going without being projected 1st round is nuts. Unless he just really needs money and is ok with going to Europe...Otherwise, it's such a mistake. If his ultimate goal is the NBA, I can't imagine his guardian letting him make that kind of mistake.

Swanigan declaring would sound really weird to me...I remember very few freshmen that went to NBA even though it was clear that they would have been 2nd round picks and just a couple that did a good move doing so. And almost all those guys were overconfident people, clearly not made for college or people with problems with their coach. Caleb doesn't seem like that to me. He has a lot of confidence for sure but I can't see him making a clearly wrong decision (unless he has financial problems or similar) when he can just develop a year being almost sure that his draft situation will be better in 2017.

Let's stop the financial problems stuff. Barnes adopted him and Rosy has money. What has been said that no one focuses on is that Barnes thinks Swanigan's game s more suited to the professional level. Seems obvious that the league execs are either hiding their feelings or do not believe that to be true.

I think that if Swanigan leaves, it's because he is not happy with the way CMP is utilizing him. He has been kept out of most games at the end of games.... maybe because of TO, I don't know. I just don't think he's happy with his role.

He has been kept out of most games at the end of games.... .

This is simply not true. Not only has he been on the court at the end of most of our biggest games, Swanigan actually took the ballsy shots.

Not too long ago people were complaining that a freshman, especially a bad shooter, shouldn't be taking those shots. Now people are complaining that Swanigan wasn't even on the court in those situations.

I don't think people actually forget these things... I think they just rearrange facts to fit their latest opinion. The latest opinion is that Swanigan is unhappy, so they have to find a reason, to the point of rewriting the lineup at the end of many of games.

Where do you get this stuff? He was not in the NCAA A-LR game at the end, but was in most other games. Why do you take this last game and generalize across the whole season?

Why do you think he is unhappy at Purdue? The last poster that made the same statement, that Biggie was not happy, refused or was unable to defend that opinion, but here you are spreading the same manure.

It's called confirmation bias - only use the information that supports your opinion..... or selective neglect - only remember the information that supports your opinion.

If he and his agent/guardian thinks his game is ready for the NBA so be it but be ready for the D league/European circuit which seems more likely...IMO he needs one more year to refine his game, define his body and get into top shape to go through an 82 game NBA season!

Caleb might leave Purdue's program for any number of reasons. He might want to start earning money, even if it is in Euro's. ... Or, he might have burned some bridges with the team or, more likely, scholastically. Both are possibilities, and both have less than optimum outcomes for him IMHO.

I think another year on a our team will improve his defense, his footwork, and reduce his bad tendencies to turn over the ball in traffic. He can better his outside shooting. He has Big Dog potential. He could look like a man playing against boys next year. After that next year, he will probabaly be draftable by the big boys, probably first round, which will mean much more $$$$'s.

What ever he decides, I appreciate that he played for Purdue a year. I wsih the kid all the best in his career.

The NBA is currently an outside game with a premium on three point shooting and getting up and down the court in a hurry so he would be wise to stay and work on those, first round guaranteed money would more than offset any NBA minimum and Euro dollars he could earn but if he burned his bridges with academics or with the team and coach he might have no choice!
