Downtime in Taipei

They are a hit and I think the USA is well thought of in Taiwan in general. What a magical time for these youngsters and the memories they are making...and leaving in others. I remember a day or two after 911 receiving an email from a supplier in Taiwan (rubber keypads with either carbon pills, carbon printed ink or gold pills) writing me and offering her and their condolences concerning the tragic attack on the USA. She wrote that Taiwan stood with the USA and that her people were always so grateful for the USA's committment to protect Taiwan from the Chinese should the Republic of China attack Taiwan. It brings me great satisfaction to not only see these young men win, but to make themselves available to the admiration of others and to handle themselves with class where ever they go!
These guys are getting to experience the world, all while doing what they love. I admit to being a bit jealous LOL. The manner in which they are representing Purdue (America, for that matter), makes me so proud. Seeing the looks in those kids eyes as they met the players (more like giants!) sure puts things into perspective.....even the littlest things can mean so much. Sometimes the heart is mightier than the hammer............keep it up fellas, and BTFU!
Agreed! From the videos and photos, it shows a group of young men who are excited to see a foreign country and be respectful of the culture and society. I am proud to call these young men fellow Boilers and soon to be alumni!
Used to go to Taiwan a lot for business. They are very nice to Americans and try very hard to speak English. I have to correct your term though. The Republic of China (ROC) is Taiwan. The People's Republic of China is China. Itis a very interesting relationship. I think it is an insult when Taiwan is referred to Chinese Taipei because it indicates Taiwan is not separate from China although it is very much so (US is a country that recognizes that). Anyway, I couldn't coordinate a business trip this week so I was bummed I couldn't catch our usa team in person, but have been enjoying following online.Go USA! Boiler up!
