Seems to be the one gap in this class so far. Craft and Alexander look like ideal OLB in this scheme. Deen could play LB but looks more like a LEO.

Was hoping Dingle or Johnson would be that recruit but they have committed elsewhere (but obviously not signed).

More recent offers seem to be on the offensive side of the ball esp at WR.

They could move Bailey inside but still need another as he will only have two more years

I was hoping for Mason Parris but looks like wrestling for him.

When LB Craft commited, he was quoted as saying he would be the last linebacker scholarship given out! So to answer your question, I would say the answer is no!

Hard to say where the staff projects each of these guys after a couple years of strength & conditioning.

Here are the listed heights and weights of the 3 2018 recruits mentioned:
Craft 6'2 220
Deen 6'2 240
Alexander 6'1 225

Here are the heights and weights of our starting linebackers and LEO when they were recruits and now:
McCollum 6'2 185 / 6'3 235
Bailey 6'1 205 / 6'1 235
Bentley 6'2 246 / 6'2 260
Danny E 6'2 235 / 6'2 250

I'd say Deen could end up in either the Danny E role or ILB. Between Craft and Alexander, I'd guess one of the two gets bulked up as a run stopping ILB. They are both already bigger than Larry and McWilliams from the 2017 class.

Side note: Amazing to see how much good weight McCollum packed on. Reinforces the importance of depth and red shirting. Kind of makes you wonder if the staff has plans to bulk up any of these big DBs they are recruiting. Maybe both Craft and Alexander get moved inside and Trice is moved to OLB.

I believe we are still recruiting 2018 DE Madison Norris. Let be clear that I have never seen him play so I am just throwing this out there based on his height/weight. He seems like he would be a candidate for LB in college if he has the speed. He just seems under sized for a college DE at 6' 4" / 200lbs.

Per the IU premium board he's heading to IU (at least the post heading appears that way)

Looks like Purdue offered another DE...he's a 2 star on Rivals but a high 3 star on 24/7

Norris announces today at 3. He hasn't given away much. He may pick IU, I just hope he is going to be happy losing to their Rival and a school that recruited him for 4 straight years. I won't feel bad for him though.

Norris committed to IU today ! When I didn't see an update , knew it wasn't us.

Why would we need another ILB? Jones, Barnes and Alexander could all play inside, with Bailey, Craft, Larry outside. Those will likely be our top 6.

Bailey is a more natural ilb. He will move next year
