I don't know how a big can even play in a game called like this. This "game" has been nearly impossible to watch in the 2nd half.

You beat me to it. This game has had a bit of everything that is wrong with the NCAA game:

-A school under investigation for major violations playing for the championship.
-Both teams in the bonus with 14:20 left in the game.
-The flagrant foul rule that the NCAA still can't get right after all these years.

Who wants to bet there is a clock error in the final minute?

However, the game is close. Drama might win out & make this game a "classic."

One of the worst games I've watched in a while. These aren't the two best teams on this night.

Miss Meeks hand blatantly being out of bounds holding onto the ball and UNC gets a jump ball followed by 2 points. College bball refs are a joke

Man, if it was me I would have passed the ball around for an open 3. There was plenty of time for that. Settling for two in the lane that of course got blocked wasn't a good call imo. Bummer!

So we've got the Arkansas ending of the game where UNC likely should have lost had they not missed calls with Arkansas leading. We've got the UK game where foul after foul went against UK players and they managed to win. The Oregon game missing 4 fts at the end and playing terrible and now the championship game with multiple missed or poorly made calls. Not to mention the insane academic fraud that has gone on at UNC. Tell me again how luck isn't a factor in becoming a champion and how UNC earned the right to be in that game and win it all.

The worst thing to me is putting these games in cavernous football stadiums. Just absolutely no atmosphere at all.

i feel for zags fans on that one.... felt like a 'purdue moment' not getting the call, or even reviewed.

Wow....UNC shoots 35% (4-27 from deep); 15-26 from the FT line, and gets outrebounded....but hangs on to win by 6. Only 4 turnovers, however. A little underwhelming, but they are the last team standing.

No classes tomorrow for the Tarheels......they've "earned" it.

There was a play fairly early in the game where it looked a UNC player was clearly out of bounds when "saving" the ball back into play. There were some bad calls both ways, but I think UNC benefitted from more no-calls than Gonzaga. However, Gonzaga also had plenty of chances to stay in this but they shot really poorly inside the arc and around the basket (Karnowski had a brutal game from the field). They shot a better percentage on 3's than they did 2's. I think Theo Pinson was the X-factor for UNC in this game. He's not a good shooter but he makes some important plays (drive-and-dish, steals, blocks, loose-balls, etc.). I was disappointment to see Gonzaga lose and one of the same 10-15 programs that wins the title every season win again.

BTW, UNC was a little bit of a post-feed team with their seniors Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks on the interior. However, UNC's guards and wings were more capable of feeding to them off of drives and such than many of Purdue's players were for Haas, Swanigan, and VE. Also, UNC seems to do a better job of spacing the floor in their halfcourt offense (isolate a big on one side and have three of his teammates out on the wings on the other side) than Purdue when making a post-feed from mid-range or the perimeter.

Well, UNC gets to continue to not be punished for their years of academic fraud. Congratulations to the NCAA for profiting off of winning programs with repeated violations and of course doing nothing about it.

NCAA Basketball continues to morph into an NBA style of play and with how the officials call the game! One. the NBA, has become a league of stars and promotes it that way and their TV ratings reflect it.

The NCAA is following suit to fill their pockets while filling large football arenas with tournament fans. If it is good or better for the game this way is up to the individual fans to determine but it is what it is and, just like the NBA, the college game is on it's way to more emphasis on the name on the back or the jersey not the front, imo!

Agree on the fouls.
My take. North Carolina was the poster child last night for the athletic player versus the skilled player. Lots of athleticism with players driving to the hoop, but all too often throwing up wild and out of control shots. Athleticism is great, but you have to play smart and under control. Roy Williams should be embarrassed at his team's shot selection and their poor shooting when it counts most. The freedom of movement rules encourage this kind of play, but I can't help but think if the Tarheels had at least one good skill player who is a 3 point specialist, they could have blown the Zags out with drive and kick or pass and kick it to the open man. Just wasn't very sound basketball at all. And as much as we have complained about Haas, the big guy for the Bulldogs had a really tough time last night. I think Gonzaga was just too hyper.

Only redeeming quality to that game was it was close and that kept it interesting to watch while being painful to watch at the same time. But overall, it was a poorly played game by both teams, and you just knew in the back of your mind that the Tarheels would prevail, unfortunately.

A flagrant 1? OMG! These refs aren't too bright!
What do you expect with Michael Stephens being the best ref the NCAA has to offer. He of the inadvertent whistle in Madison Square against the Baby Boilers. All he needed was Lamont Simpson and Bo Borowski to make a perfect 3 stooge lineup.

Refused to watch any part of a game that could allow a university and program that openly committed academic fraud against the institution that is awarding the championship and not receive as much of a slap on the wrist.

The ONLY way I see this being fair at all is if the NCAA is still building the case against UNC and are truly weighing the death penalty.

as far as I am concerned, any player that was eligible to play because he received grades through that fraudulent AAS program at UNC should not be considered as a valid NCAA player. Hence any game he played even one minute should be forfeit. That means several NCAA championships and perhaps the most recent should be rescinded.

In total agreement! If the NCAA gave USC as harsh a penalty for Reggie Bush's transgressions, how in the world can they turn a blind eye to UNC?

Gonzaga was awful and NC wasn't much better. Neither deserving of a ring,,,, very sad. Gonzaga picked the champ. game to play their worst game of season and the refs picked monday night to officiate their worst game of their lives and should be ashamed of themselves. And why was Dakich on with Mike and Mike this morning? Golic can't stand him.

this makes me think they will.
as soon as ole roy retires, they come in with penalties (and then year 2 or 3 of the new regime they get reduced)

unc has spent $18 mil on legal fees so far, the refs were bad, and the Zags couldn't take advantage of an off night by that funky looking #44 o unc.
