I'm optimistic Brohm and co. Will figure it out but a few items I wasn't personally concerned with going into the season which now are pretty alarming:

1) Wright can't be depended on to cath the football. Really had high hopes for Wright this year and was expecting him to become the heir apparent.

2) Durham doesn't appear to be able to make the tough catch where defenders are contesting.

3) starting QB isn't relied upon by the staff to push the ball down the field nor lead the team for a comeback.

I agree 100%, if Wright isn’t gonna make the catches, let someone else step up, lots of high rated receivers on the bench

It’s concerning to me that it’s almost like you could have suggested testing Notre dame with longer developing pass routes and he would have been like “you can’t do that, plummer might get pressured.” As if we can throw underneath all day and beat ND.

you have to be willing to be pressured to beat them

I think Plummer’s psyche is so fragile on making a mistake that he will be benched. He got benched for not making a mistake so mentally he maybe more confused.

I'm guessing that Brohm has communicated with his QBs that either one of them can/will play. Brohm's done this before. Not saying I agree with it.

AOC can get the ball in tight windows with some zip. I see nothing wrong with playing both to their strengths. Confident that Brohm has told them both what the situation is and they are men now…not boys.

I'ts doubtful he's made it this far in life/football to have such a fragile "psyche".
Agree, he is a man now, not a kid. IIRC, he is in Engineering as well. Have to have logical thinking and when Purdue is struggling, re-arrange the variables to get a better result. To me, he plays well when competition is equal or less than Purdue. When defenses are faster and bringing pressure, AOC gets the nod. That is obvious from yesterday’s result.
Fans in general think there has to be one QB, bullshit. Play to their strengths and give the starting nod to the one that they’ll need that week. The other can spell them for a breather or series when coach needs consult time and scheme for the next series. The 2nd team QB that week should have a series or two every game moving forward IMHO when they are that close in competition. If it were a clear #1 aka Drew Brees, then it is a different story.
Don’t let the 2nd man rust till cold days in October/November to play them. That would be stupid.

Plummer has nice measurables.. but.. as a strong chess player who has coached some scholastic champions, I think to a piece of advice I give.

I often know what my opponent is playing for .. even bad ideas or suspect ideas. I have a good sense of where the game is going. Often times I’ll see where my opponent is going with it in 3 moves and based on something that’s hard to see, I give him the bad news in four moves.

Oconnell has that. I felt like Joey elliott had that his senior year (nothing like the talent that plummer is arm wise and size wise). I think David Blough had that. I’m just not sure plummer ever will. The good news is that at least he can see the gimmes now.

yesterday we needed plummer to step up and get hit as he was firing an out that was barely coming open on the third level. He and brohm combined for ideas that would have been awesome if we were Alabama with rondale moore in the slot. Not good when it’s to king doerue underneath.

He threw the ball down field more the first two games. I think there was concern about being outmatched up front against ND causing sacks and turnovers. The gameplan was to keep it close, sustain some drives, take what they give you, and open it up as the game went on. It just didn’t work out because they were the better team and didn’t beat themselves on this day.

Wow, that means Jack must have to take calculus and other high-level courses just like the gender studies majors at nd, right @NDAFArly ?

Of course, calculus at nd must be much harder than as taught to Purdue engineering students.

Hiding again, domer?

Most of our Engineering grads couldn't have even gained admission to the ND Gender studies program.

thank God.

Agree completely. Painter had some of the best physicality and mechanics of any QB that's ever played for the Old Gold and Black, but he didn't have THIS. And it's why he won all the games he was supposed to and didn't win a one he wasn't. I have yet to see it in Plummer, but do this AOC has it.

The problem is.. not sure Oconnell helps unless he’s just stepping up in the pocket getting drilled .. the pressure was coming too fast for him to get away

I think Oconnell is marginally better … but if he was 6’5” with plummers wheels he’d be in the nfl for more than a minute once he was done here

Also if you read enough about Allen it sounds like he sees the game pretty well. It doesn’t seem like he’s doing what he’s doing throwing up 65 yarders to a 5 star receiver at a Los Angeles area prep school

In high school he was the man. He could do no wrong. All the intangibles, just go back and cut it loose. He was not going to get benched. Now playing for Brohm, he has been reamed out many times early on by coach. Brohm has tempered his anger during the games, but we don’t know how it goes behind closed doors. Again not wanting to make a mistake, and not making one, now getting the hook plays on the mind on all players including the professionals.

Why would I hide from you?
I well aware of engineering at Purdue. My wife is an engineer & hires people regularly from Purdue. I have sent close to a dozen kids to Purdue for Air Force ROTC, over half for engineering.
Unlike you, I don’t have a fragile ego & don’t need to drag Purdue down to prop up others. I have considerable respect for engineering at Purdue. I’m not 12, I don’t need to tear you down to build myself up.

Who knows?
Admission at ND is only partly based on academics. Nobody gets through without community service & other extra curricular activities.
So despite your sarcasm, no, an engineering student who doesn’t care about their community or put in work away from school would probably not be accepted. I know plenty of engineers who did not get accepted to many schools because the lack of diversity in their applications.

It's a part of the game. For every player. Even those not playing.

If their "psyche" can't handle adversity, not sure they should be on the field... (I don't believe that about Jack, btw)

Manti Teo was definitely involved in some extra curricular activities.

You're ducking it domer. You claimed nd gender studies majors have to take calculus, which implies that football players and even the leprechaun have to take calculus.

Occam says you were lying in order to "prop up" nd by dragging down other schools in comparison, which makes you are a lying hypocrite per your post here. Prove otherwise, domer - or go back to hiding your head in the shame you brought on yourself.

Edit: Hide your in head in shame, lying hypocrite domer. Better yet, just stay off the Purdue forum.
