I'm sure you all saw the headline on Gold & Black Ill. that Larry Tracy made another visit to Purdue. I would love to see him commit. He is #11 on 247Sports 2019 top Indiana recruits. Sounds like we have a chance with him, David Bell, Jack Kiser, & Justin Britt. I wouldn't mind seeing Cameron Williams give us a look see as well, but I have no idea if he has any real interest in us.

Rivals has him at #6 for the state. Would be nice to pick up a few of the top in-state recruits, especially with such a strong class. Several of these guys, including Bell and Tracy are ranked pretty highly nationally, too.

Just think if Brohm can land 2 or 3 of the top 10 players out of the state of Indiana every year.
Haha. Que up all the idiots who don’t think we need Indiana talent to win.

They ignore the fact that 50% of our best players in the last era we were relevant were Indiana guys.

It’s a lot easier to convince an Indiana kid to come to a state school than a kid from 1000 miles away!

Using 247Sports Top Indiana Prospects Rankings (Composite Position Ranking).... I believe have a shot to possibly grab 5 of the top Indiana prospects:

#1 David Bell (247 Composite #14 WR) (Rivals #19 WR)
#3 George Karlaftis (247 Composite #13 WDE) (Rivals #47 CB)
#6 Justin Britt (247 Composite #15 OG) (Rivals #47 OT)
#10 Jack Kiser (247 Composite #44 OLB) (Rivals #-- OLB)
#11 Larry Tracy (247 Composite #56 CB) (Rivals #47 CB)

In addition to these in-state young men, it looks like 2019 OT Triston Miller de-committed from Wake Forest and is giving us serious consideration. His composite ranking on 247Sports is as the #49 DT. Rivals ranks him as the #64 OT in the class. There is nothing I would like more than seeing some talented O-line and D-Line guys commit. You win or loose in the trenches as my Grand Dad always said!

Really? On the 2003 team, who was the premium Indiana talent?

Standeford and pollard? Who else?

In addition to these in-state young men....!

Gold & Black also has a story on a Chicago area WR visiting Purdue so I would assume that is 2019 6'2" 175lbs Fabian McCray from Phillips Academy. 247Sports Composite Ranking #103 WR with Rivals ranking him the #70 WR. Nice height but I don't know anything about him other than he is listed as having a Purdue offer.

Watching his highlight film, I think he has a higher ceiling as a CB. At 6'2 and 180 pounds, he would be able to impart some physicality on the defensive side of the ball. He shows good hip movement and turn when playing CB along with great timing to dislodge contested balls. He also shows good ability to step up to the line of scrimmage and provide support in the run game as well. I'd say this may be a recruitment similar to that of Ray Williams from 2002 in that if this young man wants to play WR, it may dissuade some 'better offers' who may want him as a CB only and give Purdue an edge to get him on campus to give him a shot at WR first. I think no matter what school he chooses, he will eventually switch to the defensive side of the ball.

Otto, Hardwick, Terril are a few others.

Most of our better players through the next part of the Tiller era were home state guys.

I never said that we could build a team on in state guys alone....but ignoring the local base is nuts. Especially since it's so much better than it was when Tiller was here....the last time we really paid heavy attention to it.

Your view is very moderate. I don't think anyone would disagree with you.

Interesting fact: our last FOUR 1st round draft picks and our last THREE 2nd round draft picks are all from Indiana.

Especially with Brohm's ties to Louisville.

I wish we could reel in the talented O-Line guys OG Bryan Hudson & OT Tanner Bowles, but I haven't read a thing that points to them even considering Purdue at this point. It does sound like we have a shot at ATH Milton Wright, SDE JJ Weaver, WDE Shawnkel Knight-Goff, and APB Wandale Robinson. All 4 listed in the state's top 10.

I think we have a shot with those 4. However, Wright and Bell are similar type receivers. We get Bell. I don’t see us getting Wright.
