@GoldandBlackcom: Rapheal Davis sitting out #Purdue practice today with sprained MCL in knee. Probably won't play vs Lehigh but hoped he will be fine for Pitt

When did this happen? I pray this is very very minor! Cannot lose him.
Lehigh I don't think will be a push over. They hung with duke for awhile, and are the favorites to win their conference.

Hopefully just precautionary on Painter's part.

We should be fine against Lehigh.

We will want him at Pitt however if only for his leadership in a hostile environment.

Sprained MCLs are tricky to predict. Matt Forte just had one and was out 3 weeks. Totally different sport tho.

Better now than later..........right? Is it deemed a sprain when they can't find a tear of any sort on the x rays? or what?

There's also varying levels of severity in terms of sprains. A minor ankle sprain can sideline you for several days, but a severe ankle sprain can be a month+.

I think had basil smotherman not red shirted, it makes sense to red shirt cline. In a sense it would have made more sense to red shirt cline, and not smotherman, but it was basil's choice. Realistically basil could defend the 2,3 or 4 position, whereas cline struggles to defend at the 2.

All true. They will have to step up and play better team defense. This could prove to be a blessing later in the season.

I love Davis but I'm not sure this is a bad thing. Get another pure shooter on the court for those games and times when the team just needs offense. Always good to be good at multiple things

And this is why some people argued against redshirting Cline.

Yes, with injuries, you just never know who, when, or how many. Lucky we're as deep as we've ever been under Coach Painter. I just hope we're 100% healthy against IU. That's our #1 recruiting game. They'll be jumping out of their dorms, cars & offices after we beat them again in Bloomington. Crean's [& Glass] going to feel some real heat before that game, & possibly even more post game. Glad Painter makes our guys play real defense, always.

Go Boilers!!!
