I know that Runningback is a huge need for this upcoming season due to seniors leaving. I'm just curious about how David Yancey is panning out. I went to a few open practices last spring and I was very impressed with his footwork and speed. I think this kid has some upside to him. I wouldn't be surprised if he can make a run for the starting RB spot next year. (Plus he's a region kid) lol

nat100 is correct....but to add to this if anyone can come back stronger and more determined it is DY.

He is a strong minded individual who rooms with D. Etling and has the motivation to be a big part of this teams future.

David was a playmaker in High School at Lake Central and has a QB mentality packed into an athletic body.

He will come back from his injury stronger than ever and will factor in at depth in the Purdue backfield at FB, RB or wildcat package if played.

Hazell likes him too, great teammate, great student and is determined to help Purdue win.

Look for good things from DY.

Boiler Up!

I was wondering why him and Keith Bryars didnt get a single carry last season. Seems kind of silly to only have 3 running backs touch the ball all season. Bryars looks like a big back with some speed. I think Fuller and Worship will redshirt next season but Markell Jones will see some playing time.

I dont think Byars is in the staff's plans.

I think Yancey got snaps as a FB early in the season, although i could be wrong. I know he played ST.

Mike carmins twitter said that Yancey tore his meniscus not acl, the kid might be a diamond in the rough
I stand corrected. I thought is was an ACL (or i just expect that it is when purdue is involved)

DJ Knox is an up and comer also. The coaches praised him last season he may see playing time next season.

When you say that, are you saying it's an example of a mis-evaluation in talent-evaluation by the staff?

No I just don't think he will see many snaps

I hope the kid sees some snaps at RB. Can't tell me he isnt one of the fastest RB if not guys on the team. Also, Nat100 he didnt play an offensive snap this year, just Special Teams. I am surprised we havent heard more about him. Both he and Jones were IN All-State first team selections coming out of high school and Yancey was actually rated higher than Jones. Will be an interesting Spring ball1

I stood next to Byars at the Spring game. He is muscular but not Linebacker big nor rangy. I would equate him more as a run support safety. His dad was a bug dude though. Did look athletic enough that he would help in some capacity.
