David Bell crystal ball

Win or lose I like the fact we are in his top 3 with OSU and mich
I have to disagree. In my opinion, there are no moral victories with wins or recruiting. You win or you lose. I am hoping we win.

Mr. Bell become part of the rejuvenation of Boiler football!! We are putting the pieces together of doing something really special. You are one of those pieces to get us to the next level!

You got to start somewhere though. Our football program has been terrible in the previous years. Do you really think a recruit would pick purdue over OSU or Michigan? Brohm has been doing a great job.

Crystal ball on 24/7 was 89% OSU 11% Michigan

Now Purdue at 11% and Bell tweeted he'd be committing soon and historically the 24/7 staff flip when they know to keep their correct prediction rate high

Wonder if the other experts start to follow suit. Of all the experts, I think Wiltfong is the most knowledgeable so I’m glad it’s him that updated his pick.

I agree that Wiltfong is the most knowledgeable. He was the one that started talking up Purdue for Moore way before the others started following suit.

I hope these recruits realize that OSU "over-recruits" at nearly every position each year. Purdue has traditionally over-recruited at a single position-QB- and even then a father of a high profile recruit will request that we restrict the offers at that position to only his son in any given class (as Kyle Orton's father requested in 02') - I would emphasize to highend recruits that early PT is almost automatic for a high 3* or 4* at PU-Sampson or Bell will see the field at OSU starting in 2021 at the earliest.

I don't want to bash OSU for "over recruiting" because at some point in my lifetime, I would like Purdue to be in that position. OSU has earned the opportunity to do this through years of success and a storied program history. I, for one am jealous of their recruiting riches. Over recruiting breeds more competition, which in turn, (theoretically) puts a better product on the field. When all of us start coming to this board posting about all the different 4 and 5* recruits, wondering who and when someone will see significant playing time, is when "I" believe Purdue football is finally at an elite level.

I didn't read his post as OSU bashing, but a legitimate angle that our staff can play against them in recruiting. Understand what you have to offer and sell the hell out of it.

At some point recruits need to realize the big boys recruit certain states “playing defense”. Defending themselves by putting good players on scholarship under them to ride the bench so they don’t get burnt by them playing elsewhere.

Man, would it be fun watching this dude fly all over the field catching passes from Plummer or whoever the next great Purdue quarterback is.

I can't figure out why Bell is even considering Iowa? Makes little sense to me as Iowa under Ferentz has never really been noted for entertaining pass oriented football? I get the interest from Indiana recruits on the defensive side and understand why Iowa poaches the Hoosier state's best every year. Their QB I suspect will be Nathan Stanley again this year and although they have (2) highly ranked QB's coming in, I doubt Ferentz is going to install a pass friendly attack? The OC is still Brian Ferentz. The term "offensive guru" doesn't exactly come to mind? Not like with Jeff & Brian Brohm.

Some chatter about him being a jumbo sized defensive back. Kirk does have a decent history of getting DBs into the league. Could be a reason he's giving Iowa a look

That’s the way Purdue hauled in Ray Williams in 2002 class. Williams had some damn good offers and interest from elite programs but didn’t want to go anywhere he couldn’t play WR full time....Purdue was his best offer for that. Ironically, he ended up playing CB his senior year when injuries forced him to that side of the ball and ended up getting a sniff with New Orleans.

I was at the Wisconsin game in Madison when Ray made that over his head catch of an Orton bomb at the end of the game at like the 2 yard line and we kicked a field goal to win. That was fun.

I know it is only 30% right now, but I believe Wiltfong is predicting Purdue, which excites me, because I trust his predictions a little more than some of the others on there.

Same here. He was also the first one to predict Purdue on where Karlaftis was going and then everyone else started to pick Purdue

Would be nice if they weighted those percentages somehow to reflect that. Lots of people jumped on the bandwagon after it became pretty clear where Moore and others were committing.

Wiltfong seems very credible, though.

I believe like Moore, this one could take a while before he actually signs. I have to believe it was Purdue's success down the stretch that helped convince Moore to sign with Purdue. An elite athlete like bell is going to want to see a winning program and an opportunity to contribute and fit in immediately. Watching our freshmen WRs contribute early could win him over.

He also was the first on Moore from Texas to Purdue.
One thing I prefer about Brohm’s recruiting over Painters: Jeff is willing to fight until they sign on the line that is dotted, even if they are committed elsewhere. Moore is a prime example. Committed to the bluest of the blue bloods, and CJB just bulldogged him to Purdue.

Different in football than basketball when it comes to recruiting committed players. They aren’t comparable.

I don’t know why they differ but football never stops recruiting a player but hoops definitely backs off upon commitment at almost all schools.

I sincerely hope he stays in Sampson James' ear. Maybe he can get him to see that Purdue can offer a quicker path to starting glory. I would think if we started landing some higher profile linemen it would get the attention of the higher profile RB's.
