Each week, we take a look back at the most recent Purdue football game through Pro Football Focus data and analytics.

Today, Purdue's 59-31 loss at No. 6 Ohio State.

PURDUE OFFENSE
Snap Counts
Quarterback
Aidan O'Connell 71
Jack Plummer 1

Wide Receiver
David Bell all 72 (wow)
Milton Wright 59
Jackson Anthrop 56 (27 snaps at RB, I think)
TJ Sheffield 18
Broc Thompson 18

Running Back
King Doerue 34
Zander Horvath 27
Dylan Downing 2

Tight End
Payne Durham 45
Garrett Miller 29

Offensive Line
Gus Hartwig (C) 72
Spencer Holstege (LG) 72
Tyler Witt (RG) 72
Greg Long (LT) 71
Eric Miller (RT) 39
Cam Craig (RT) 34

GRADES AND SUCH
• Aidan O'Connell was Purdue's highest-graded offensive player, and this was his second-best grade of the season behind only last week's Player-of-the-Week performance vs. Michigan State.

Both right tackles — Eric Miller and Cam Craig basically split snaps — graded well

• The offensive graded great in pass protection. Purdue allowed no sacks. Some of that may have been schematic and some of that might have been the amount of game time Ohio State spent in a three-man rush, but be that as it may, this was a good game for the offensive line.

PURDUE PASSING GAME
• Purdue set a season high thus far with seven passing plays of 20 or more yards and Aidan O'Connell graded damn near perfectly on those throws.

He was 5-of-8 for 112 yards and three scores throwing 20 or more yards in the air, including 3-for-3 throwing up the left sideline. One of the incompletions was the drop by David Bell in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

• PFF identified only one snap in which O'Connell was "under pressure," which is pretty remarkable. Purdue threw a 25-yard touchdown to Jackson Anthrop on that play.

• Purdue used playaction on only 19 percent of its snaps — it's generally been closer to a third — and completed seven of those 10 throws, averaging 10.6 yards per attempts. Without playaction, Purdue averaged 6.8 yards on 33 attempts.

• O'Connell's passing chart ...
Clean: 39-51, 367 yards, three touchdowns
Under Pressure: 1-1, 25 yards, TD
Blitzed: 8-10, 84 yards, 2 TD
No Blitz: 32-42, 308, 2 TD

• After a great week in this regard, Purdue averaged just 2.9 yards on eight screen passes.

• Purdue dropped two passes.

• Purdue averaged 5.1 yards after the catch.

PURDUE RUNNING GAME
Purdue averaged just 2.21 after contact.

• The Boilermakers averaged 7.3 yards on three attempts running off right end.

PURDUE DEFENSE
Snap Counts

Defensive Line
George Karlaftis 67
Branson Deen 56
Lawrence Johnson 52
Kydran Jenkins 35
DaMarcus Mitchell 26 (most since Notre Dame)
Damarjhe Lewis 20
Jack Sullivan 19
Bryce Austin 18

Linebacker
Jalen Graham 72
Jaylan Alexander 71
Kieren Douglas 70
OC Brothers 2
Khali Saunders 1

Secondary
Dedrick Mackey 73
Jamari Brown 72
Cam Allen 62
Marvin Grant 46
Chris Jefferson 41

GRADES AND SUCH
• Jaylan Alexander was Purdue's highest-graded defensive player, and joins Chris Jefferson, DaMarcus Mitchell and George Karlaftis as those who graded respectably on a day Purdue really struggled.

• Purdue's four lowest-graded defenders in reverse order were Cam Allen, Branson Deen, Dedrick Mackey and Jalen Graham.

• Missed tackles: 12. Jamari Brown led the way with three.

Ohio State averaged 4.6 yards after contact in the running game and averaged 21.5 yards on four rushing attempts over left guard.

• The Boilermakers generated just one pressure on CJ Stroud. That was Marvin Grant's doing, per PFF.

• Ohio State was 9-9 for 103 yards targeting Dedrick Mackey. That was four different receivers. All of them studs, of course.

• Purdue is recognized as having blitzed on 14 of Stroud's 38 dropbacks. He was 10-14 for 139 yards and a touchdown on those snaps.

• Ohio State averaged 13 yards on eight screen passes.
