I'm assuming all of you have watched Hazell's appearance from Friday already ... but if you haven't, here are some quick-hitters from the show.

When asked about the scheme changes the offense has been through his first two seasons and now with up-tempo tweaks happening this spring, Hazell categorized it as the offense "evolving." He said, ultimately, they'd like to be a spread-out team that runs some no-huddle, some up-tempo. Wants to get as few people inside the box on defense as possible so can run base "things" and then "exotic" stuff off base. "I like schematically where we are offensively," he said. Hazell thinks D.J. Knox has been "fantastic" through the first two weeks of practice. Would ultimately like to have two players emerge by August and have a third who would play some in games, too. Potential good news for the receiving corps: "Yancey has been good. We need to see how he's going to be around physical competition, but he's looked more like he was in Year 1 than he did in Year 2 at this point in time." Yancey has been working with the first-team offense at X receiver. Though he appeared to injure a knee last week and missed Saturday's kick scrimmage. On the QBs: "If we were to play today, you'd play with Austin based off the first five practices. But we're a long way from there. Both of those other guys (Etling, Blough) are capable and even Sindelar, we'll have to see what he's all about."Likes Hedelin's progress. Said he "wasn't ready" when he came last year, just trying to survive, but has really taken big steps and is better now than at any point last season.Thinks Martesse Patterson is going to be a "star."DT Michael Rouse may have made the biggest leap of anyone on the team, not just on the defense. The difference in Rouse, who was disinterested in practices for the second half of last season? "I think a big thing in getting people to perform for you is trust. I think it took this long for him to trust us."Robert Gregory looks like a Big Ten safety. Can he play like one? "Not quite yet, but he's getting there."Wouldn't say anything about potential new helmets for 2015.Wouldn't say if Ross-Ade Stadium will be getting FieldTurf -- or even if he prefers it. "We'll see what the future brings for us," he repeated when asked twice.During the weekend of the spring game, Hazell said the program is going to honor the "Den of Defensive Ends" and that a bunch of players will be coming back. No list yet, but we're hoping to get one closer to that weekend.
