Dakota M.

Props to him for his best scoring game of his Purdue career! Hopefully, this is just the beginning of more good shooting games from him.

Great game. Wish he could come close to that performance a little more often.
Nice back-handed compliment.

Dakota is not one to force his offense and, therefore, won't score 20 too often, but he's been playing a lot better all season than what many fans seem to realize. For the season, thus far, he's 13 for 22 from three with only one game under 50%, but his overall game is so much more than that. If you watch him closely, he does all of the little things.

I think different players will have big games depending on who we play, who is guarding them, etc etc. No really big superstars, just a bunch of hard working good players.

Vincent Edwards is due to bust out......maybe he'll have a Yum Yum game coming up.

Maybe he will. Every one who does play consistently well has to start somewhere. Maybe this is it. Let's hope so:).

This is what I was thinking. It's the beginning of his junior year... no reason why he can't start doing some really good things starting now.

I'm trying to stay patient, but VE needs to get going. Auburn would be a good place to start!!

I hear you, Dry.

The numbers were obviously great, but the way Haas & Mathias played off of each other last night was even more exciting to see. The Mathias lob entry pass & ensuing kick-out by Isaac on the double team resulting in a 3 by DM was textbook. The Mathias bullet entry passes to Haas are just a thing of beauty as it doesn't give time for the help defender to double Isaac. Those two just seem to be great complements to each other's games.

All the Cline hate is WAY out of hand. Don't know him personally but I've heard nothing to make me think he is anything but a good person who made a mistake and handled it poorly. As a player, it's completely idiotic to think we can't use his skill set.

Lets hope this is the break-out season we have been waiting for from Dakota. My worry is that after playing 35 minutes because others couldn't keep inferior competition out of the paint it may take his legs away tonight. I hope I am wrong - I think we will need him again

As for Vince, I just don't get it. On the positive side, until he can get his own shots against good competition, and . . get them to drop consistently, he will be back next year. (A good thing for us)

As for Biggie, . . he is a beast this year. (He's gone, unless Isaac can sell him on a title run with Eastern/others next year. But, . . given his family situation out west, I kind of doubt it. (Too much $$ at stake)

Good for us?? --- well if his play doesn't improve he has been fairly replaceable up to now. I will admit he did have an 8 assist game, but other than that, not much from him that could not easily be replaced by the next man up.

Easily ?? you have to be kidding right ?? With who ? Basil or Cline - really ??? Basil helps when we are in foul trouble (which is often) but I wouldn't start him yet - commits lots of fouls and turnovers and has no outside shot yet which would pull his defender away from Isaac and biggie. At least Vince can hit a 3 43% of the time, which stretches the defense , provides assists & creates matchup problems periodically

As for cline, . . Not even sure the fog has lifted yet, but even if it has, there is no way he can provide the complete game which Vince can. (rebounds, assists, defense)

You are talking about an NBA caliber talent which isn't playing well - there is a BIG difference between that and our next tier.

Easily.....was the wrong word choice....sorry....my point was when VE plays poorly MP will have alot of options to replace him next year....as the post above was about him returning next year.

A LOT ? ? Really ? ? Again - who ??????

Do you really think the incoming freshmen are going to play better than a kid trying out for the NBA?

If he would play like a kid trying out for the NBA....there would not be an issue. He is not...and when he plays poorly, he is replaceable IMO. Sorry it offends you, but he has not played all that well this season, certainly no where near an NBA fringe guy. I am looking forward to that changing....hopefully tonight!

Dakota and Isaac both 9-10 FGs? Why don't they shoot that every game? Why don't our other guys do the same? Must be Painter's fault, right?

Even great players have "on" and "off" nights. Long-term ability to be consistent, and to spread the load among teammates when some have off nights, are what push teams beyond the 30-or-so-game regular season.

Boiler up!

And . . . now you know why he is playing. While I give you that he hasn't been playing well, nothing on the bench can replace what he provides (A big who can stretch the floor, defend, drive and rebound) He just needed to work through it.

If you had made the comment about basil or cline I would get it - since they don't offer as much in other aspects of the game.

Mathias had a career night against Auburn and we hope for more of the same. He obviously is capable. I'm among those that feel that if Cline can display some of his ability on a more consistent basis that Dakota will benefit even more in the future. Time will tell but there is a lot to look forward to from those two (and then consider C.E. and the perimeter shooting looks even brighter). Mathias lets the game come to him, and it's working. Great job Dakota, keep on rockin"!
