We lost, mind you only something we have done twice since January. Also make sure to write all losing cliches possible, "no clutch gene", "cant win the big one". Let's wait till the tourney to cry at least. This team will surprise you, and if it doesn't at least I have optimism and not all this garbage negativity.

Yeah probably will because I believe in Biggie think he can take us deep. Painter will shock us all by screwing it all up

Im convinced short of a NC most here will never respect Painter. I hope he proves everyone wrong, and unfortunately for him he can't hit shots and defend for his team.

A plea to emotion. First, a Final4 would go a long long long way. Hell, a few Elite8's would be good. And, remember, if Painter ever does get a Final4, he'll deserve no credit since he doesn't hit shots or defend. So.....that's a two way street.

I'm convinced that if Purdue loses in the first round again to a much lower seed but "plays really hard", people will be on here talking about how great of a coach Painter is for getting his team to actually play hard in the NCAAT and will call other people "idiot millennials" for not seeing that he is a great coach despite a lack of tournament success.

LOL. No. Can guarantee no chance of that happening. We lost to Villanova earlier in the year and people would have taken Tom Crean as our next coach thats how negative this board is and how much they despise painter.

So damn if he does damned if he doesn't why does he even coach?

Let's be upfront and honest. Under Painter , Purdue chokes in the NCAA. Yes he has some big win seasons, but never goes far in NCAA. Painter made his bed and is laying in it. Let's see if he can turn it around, but today wasn't a good start.

Did you just try to compare losing the big east championship game (while also being a lock for a 1-2 seed in the NCAAT) to losing your first game of the BTT to the #8 seed?

You should read it as a form of inspiration..........and turn that darn frown upside down!

Goodness so many assclowns-got to love the Internet. Most of you negatwits couldn't lick coaches loafers. Wtf up front and honest lmfao
No one said anything about being a better coach or knowing more about basketball than Painter. Painter hasn't done well at all in the NCAA and chokes . If you think different then I don't know what you are basing it on

nice regular season but poor management in the tourney game. cline starting AGAIN for whatever reason. where was haas? why didnt we pound it inside every time especially in ot? he cant make ft for pj but we should have been way ahead by that point. just not ready for tournament time .............again. best we can do is lose in ot, yay?

Who are we getting to replace painter? What coach that can "consistently win in March" is currently looking for a job and Purdue is their best option? You can sit here and be tough guys and talk about how you won't tolerate losing - like a percentage of fans from every single major conference team - with no grasp on reality. Who is walking through that door after we replace Painter? You guys were fine with him when we won the big ten outright, but now we lose in ot to a very hot Michigan team and now you all want his head.

If it was an issue that was exploited that comes up every year (breaking a press) you at least can make an argument. Dakota was WIDE open for a game tying three off of a play that Matt drew up. He literally could not have gotten Dakota a better shot. Wagner and Walton beat us the last time we played - they were game planned for and handled. DJ Wilson had a huge first half. Painter adjusted at halftime and he only had a couple of buckets in the second half. What more do you want Matt to do?

The truth is you just want wins no matter what without the burden of actually thinking about what goes into recruiting and coaching. You want to come on the board and talk about how you won't tolerate mediocrity and whoever we get next could do better. You enjoy complaining about the losses without having to really understand why. You want the players of our team to play perfectly with no expectation from any other team to do the same. You want to be the biggest team but also the quickest team. You want to pound the ball inside every possession like we don't already do that 90% of the time because you think you remember seeing that work the best. Your insights aren't as great as you think they are.

Only liked this because I didn't have a "love" button. Dead on.

Basically most just wonder why team can do well during the season and not so good in post season games. Don't make it out to be something else.
Is it post season or NCAA Tournament? Purdue had a nice Big Ten Tournament last season and it didn't seem like anyone cared. I missed yesterday's game so I won't comment on it, but once the NCAA tournament starts, this BTT loss to a very good Michigan team won't seem particularly important.

Well ok, Purdue hasn't been good in NCAA , I guess some of us are putting game yesterday in with the NCAA games Purdue was favored in and should have won. Maybe this year will be different.

Because he's paid a couple of dollars for it. He looks now to have won a down year league ship and not much more so far this year. Some teams get much better at the end of seasons. It does not look like Painter can. And, my point is, when we get beat, the mantra by some is, "well, Painter isn't to blame...he didn't shot or guard anyone". Then, hell, stop giving him credit for a win. I find it shocking how anyone gets on here and lists calmly why they are unhappy with the play or coaching...to have that followed by an emotional tantrum and ad homs. As Alum, and ticket/merchandise buyers, it's our right to have higher expectations for our team. It's your right to accept mediocrity. NOT SAYING YOU DO. Just saying, if someone wants to get on here and lay out why they're not happy and expect better, that's their right. These emotional outburst are ridiculous. If we flame out in the first or second round of the NCAA you better believe some folks will consider that not good enough. If you don't like the opinions of others, how about you rebut them? Tell us that winning the league in a quite possible down year is enough. The fact is, in 5 years or so, nobody will remember the league was pathetic that year and some will drag it out and parade it around. It's all good. However, maybe someone will remind them, that year nobody did squat in the NCAA, meaning quite possibly the year was weak. Or, maybe a couple of teams will light up the tourney and that dog won't hunt. The book is unwritten.

Painter will not deserve credit if Purdue makes it...that is easy. he can have an affect on the play, but ultimately his effect is less once that ball is tossed.

These emotional outbursts?; So stop crying about a loss and over analyzing everything.

1. I do not give Painter credit for a win, but I don't drop illogical blame for a loss either.
2. As a alum and ticket holder your opinion still surprisingly means as much as any homeless person in Bloomington, sorry for ya. (BTW I am also an alum, season ticket holder, and current graduate student.)
3. Good enough falls on everyone, if the players do not produce, if the coach does not adjust, if the strength coast has the players peak too early. People act like there is some singular explanation, and usually that explanation starts with P and ends with ainter.
4. My right to tell people who cry to shut up.
5. I usually do give rebuttals, such as, we have lost 2 games since January, why cry.
6. Winning in this league is an accomplishment any year and I would love to see anyone who disagrees to go talk to Biggie, Haas, Mathias, VE, etc.
7. After that whole spurt of incoherent nonsense you were still able to get back to my main point, the book is unwritten stop crying. congrats.

Yeah they did alright but the selection committee saw the Big Ten sucked and underseeded Purdue and MSU. Big ten proved they sucked too. Good tourney last year didn't mean crap
