Cradle of Bigs?

You are the one that said the IU guys fizzle out but PU has had what 3 guys play in the league that are bigs? 2/3 have been solid and JJ hasn't.

IU has had 4 first rounders and 1 fizzle in White(who got Cancer), Vonleh and Zeller to be decided and Jeffries a solid 11 year career. So again is PU the Cradle of bigs? Your team will be big next year no doubt but if they were great NBA prospects 2/3 would have already been picked.
Vonleh has yet to prove himself, Zellar is already having a forgettable career and it's amazing how you keep forgetting about Carl Landry.

So yeah, pretty much nothing you have said has refuted the statement that Purdue is becoming the cradle of bigs. Much more so than IU. So now that you have exhausted all your tricks and fell flat, how about you waddle on back to peegs with the rest of the mouth breathers and stop trolling here mmkay?

I've disproved everything you posted even when you changed the criteria, but I am done going back and forth on this because you have nothing new to add, have no interest in anything factual, nor anything that can disprove the OP's post.

Wait? PU having Brad Miller, Carl Landry and JJ........Hammons, Haas, Biggie (all yet to be drafted.) If hammons was a great NBA prospect he would already be playing in the NBA since he will be 23 this summer

IU: Jeffries(11th overall), White (29th), Zeller (4th), Vonleh (6th)

I'm confused at what the criteria for this argument is here.

May not be great in number of big men, But this list is strong (not too far off QB frequency)
- Jbc overall #1, multi NBA all star
- g.rob overall #1, multi NBA all star, team USA selection
- b. Miller multi NBA all star
- Landry has been the closest since, no all star but a solid backup player for quite a few years.

Well if we are going back to JBC...IU can add Kent benson, Walt Bellamy, Downing, George MCGinnis, Alan Henderson.

Listen I am not saying PU hasn't had good bigs. I just wouldn't put them in a category of producing a ton of great bigs.

That is smitty's problem, he keeps changing the criteria to try and make point but isn't doing very well. It's rather like arguing with a two year old that just doesn't understand the concept of something.

Best not to even bother really.

What are you talking about? What did I post that is wrong? Its a simple discussion, I am not attacking anyone or insulting anyone.

Pretty much everything as I have explained to you countless times you just refuse to see it. So, I simply am not bothering anymore because you either change the criteria or simply ignore things.

It just simply isn't worth the effort since you are so bent on derailing this thread. Either way, I'm done responding to you now.

I am not the one that said PU is the Cradle of bigs....PU literally has one guy playing in the NBA currently that is a BIG (Landry). PU has a nice frontcourt this year, no disputing that but I think it is really far fetched to think PU is the Cradle of Bigs. UK will have 4 big men in this years draft that will be lottery picks (towns, Stein, Lyles, possibly Johnson)

Also as far as Criteria? What is PU using? I used NBA draft picks as a criteria...

simple, we use overall No. 1 draft picks

we have 2 - Glenn Robinson and Joe Barry Carroll

How many does IU have?

2. Walt Bellamy and Kent Benson......also thought we were talking Bigs. Grob was a small forward at 6'7

my cutoff was 'since 1980'......walt bellamy and kent benson were way before....thats like the era of eisenhower as president

GRob - well, small forwards vary - GRob often lead his team in rebounds. this tells you all you need to know

Iu has had better bigs than PU has had.
DJ White
Jeffries
Zeller
Vonleh

All first round picks this millennium. No doubt PU has had some good bigs but they are not the cradle of bigs...
I think that you are missing the point of the thread. The OP didn't say that anyone currently is calling Purdue the Cradle of Bigs. The point is that it is an identity that Purdue is moving toward. Whether or not anyone labels Purdue that way, Painter has established something and is building on it.

The fact that IU has had 4 top 15 big man recruits this century is not really relevant to this discussion. Everyone knows that IU has had a much easier time recruiting 5 stars. IU is a different program in a different place.

On the other hand, what is relevant is that Painter has shown a willingness to run the offense through the post when he has a talented big. Crean clearly prefers a guard oriented approach. That is something that Painter can sell.

Exactly this.

Well that was a great boxing match right there, er argument. Punch...counter punch... punch. Well done. However, the winner and still champion...BBG!
Lol, thanks! I'd like to thank my trainer Buckeye Leslie for giving me the skills to handle any situation, IU Ken for still being the guy that threatened to beat me up so many years ago but was found sulking in his parent's basement and Johnny Boiler for reminding me to stay off of drugs.
:D
