Could this help accelerate the AD search & ultimate change?

Let's face it....Purdue athletics is in trouble. The basketball team is showing signs of life - but losses like today, combined with the football program amp up the spotlight on our performance issues. I'm not thinking that coaching changes will happen...but I wonder if there starts to be more angst in having new leadership in place to calm the natives.

A sweet 16 run from this team would have bought some time into the fall. But we are out of the NCAA on the afternoon of the first day.

I wonder if this might pull the timeline up to walk Morgan out the door.

It should but it won't. Painter is crap, but he is our crap for at least another 1-2 years. So frustrating.

The athletic dept. is as low as I can remember it. But the good news is that a strong AD should be able to have an immediate impact on both basketball programs. The football program is so low that I think that is a longer term project.

A new AD is solely needed ... and it can't happen too fast. But who is going to make that hire? Who is going to conduct the interviews? Who is going to do the evaluating? Who is going to convince a good candidate that he can be successful at Purdue? The Purdue sports empire is small (by B1G standards) and the tradition is (I won't use my word here). Most of the conference is racing ahead ... they're already in a sprint. To them, the race us on! By comparison, Purdue is warming up on the sidelines ... just doing stretches. I don't want to be negative for negative sake ... but i am am not optimistic that the next AD will be able to make the drastic changes needed. Why would a talented AD want to move to West Lafayette and take on the Purdue challenge? ???????l

In an ideal world, yes, a good AD will bring excitement and change. But Purdue, per Morgan's wish, will do an AD-in-waiting. The new AD will absolutely have some ties to Morgan. And we have Rod Woodson and Matt Light and all that, they will be steered to the Morgan clone. New AD will bring absolutely no change.
